Hugh Jackman isn’t letting age or a lack of effort dictate his training progress. In an Instagram post from July 1, 2026, the Australian actor worked through an intense set of weighted deficit push-ups using chains.
Through the years, Jackman has established himself as a top-grossing actor in the US. He’s best known for playing the role of Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise. To portray the character, Jackman had to transform his physique to look like a superhero.
From dieting choices to specific training regimens, Jackman’s discipline was apparent on the big screen. In addition to a ripped six-pack, the actor boasted impressive biceps, made possible thanks to his personal trainer, Beth Lewis. With summertime here, many actors are heading for their yachts or the beach, but Jackman is making sure his strength stays on point.

In the Instagram post, Jackman was seen repping out deficit push-ups with heavy chains draped around his neck:
“Best to stay fit. Rather than chase it. I remind myself of this every time Beth wants another set,” shared Hugh Jackman.
In response to his post, many fans took to the comment section, hoping to see Jackman once again assume the role of Wolverine.

“Hugh Jackman is a beast. He’s clearly obsessed with his own body so keeping up with someone who’s that diligent is going to be challenging but yeah it’s been fun. He and I are both really excited. We’ve wanted to do this for a decade so to have this opportunity now is weirdly perfect timing,” Reynolds shared.
Hugh Jackman hasn’t been the only high-profile actor to stay in shape beyond 50. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was long celebrated for his jacked build. However, the actor decided to downsize his physique. This has prompted online speculation about whether he was using performance-enhancing drugs.
