Following her incredible performances at the 2022 IPF World’s, Bonica Brown has already gotten back to competing. Despite only a month has passed, Bonica has kept going, breaking more records. She was very successful once again, having competed in the ‘Super Heavyweight Final’ of the 2022 World Games, held in Birmingham, Alabama from July 7-10, 2022

The highlight of Bonica Brown’s performance was once again squat. She was unparalleled and even broke the +84KG IPF Equipped Squat World Record with a 322.5-kilogram (711-pound) lift. Bonica even held the previous record of 318.5 kilograms (702.2 pounds), which she set at the 2019 IPF World Powerlifting Championships.

Bonica Brown was very close to also breaking the Total IPF World Record but ultimately fell 6 kilograms (13.2 pounds) short. Her final deadlift attempt of 260 kilograms (573.2 pounds) would have placed her much higher than the current record. She even pulled it up, and it looked like a good lift, but the judges overturned it.

Bonica Brown’s Full Performance

Bonica Brown weighed in at 135.55 kilograms  (298.8 pounds), so she competed in the Super Heavyweight and broke records in the +84 -kilogram weight class. Unluckily for her, the 2022 World Games were based on the score relative to bodyweight. So, Bonica had the heaviest lifts across all events, but finished in second place due to her IPF GL Score of 108.48.

Related: Bonica Brown (+84KG) Sets IPF Raw Squat And Total World Records at the 2022 IPF World Classic Championships

Bonica Brown has taken part in over 70 sanctioned competitions and racked up mind-blowing amounts of victories in nineteen years of competing. She is now 33 years old and holds multiple World Records. Most notably, Bonica claimed both the raw (273.5 kilograms / 603 pounds) and equipped (322.5 kilograms / 711 pounds) IPF squat records in the span of one month. She also holds the +84KG IPF Raw Total World Record (673.5 kilograms / 1,484.8 pounds). She set both the Raw Squat and Total records at the 2022 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.

Some sources show that Bonica Brown’s Total from the 2022 IPF World’s came out to 668.5 kilograms (1473.8 pounds). However, they presume that Bonica missed her third deadlift attempt at that competition, while that was not the case. She was in fact successful (two white lights) and the IPF Records list shows that she Totaled 673.5 kilograms (1,484.8 pounds).

Although the majority of people, including elite athletes, would take some time off after training extremely hard for the past few months, it is unlikely that Bonica Brown will do that. Her work ethic and competitiveness are unlike no other, so she will find and set new goals very quickly. Missing out on the equipped total record this time could light some more fire in Bonica, which would probably result in another unfathomable performance next time.
