“As you guys know, we run the ‘Strongest Man on Earth’ at the Shaw Classic, and I thought, well, what are we going to call our super match tournament at the Shaw Classic? The best thing and the most awesome thing that we could come up with was the ‘Strongest Arm on Earth.’ So that is what this event is going to be called. I’m very, very excited about that…
I’ve met so many awesome individuals, and I have had such a good time getting into the sport, learning, and obviously doing my first super match, that I felt like it was only fitting to bring this to the Shaw Classic and to give back to the arm wrestling community.”
Brian Shaw vs. Brandon Allen
There has been a lot of speculation about who Brian Shaw’s next opponent might be, with fans suggesting a variety of athletes. However, Brian did recently reveal that he is looking to naturally progress through the ranks and thus has to pick an opponent who can challenge him and allow him to take away some lessons as well.
The day has come and Brian Shaw has announced his second ever arm wrestling super match. He will be going against Brandon Allen, who is a familiar face in the community. Brandon has a rich history in powerlifting, which shows just how insanely powerful he is. Moreover, he is also recognized for his arm wrestling win against Larry Wheels in 2021.
“I will be going against Brandon Allen. Brandon is a guy that’s coming from the powerlifting world. You know, he had a 2,430-lb total in classic raw, and he walked out a 1,008-lb squat. So obviously a big, big strength pedigree that Brandon brings to the table. And then, more notably in the arm wrestling world, he beat Larry Wheels at King of the Table 2.”
While Brian Shaw is insanely big, Brandon Allen is also a force to be reckoned with. Moreover, Brian revealed that Brandon will also try to pack on some more mass to his frame in hopes of trying to stop the 4x World’s Strongest Man champion. Interestingly, Brian has received some arm wrestling tips from Brandon prior to his match against Eddie Hall. However, the situation has changed, meaning that the two men will be going against each other now.
“I’ve got time to prepare; I plan on being fully prepared for this match, as Brandon also has said he will be fully prepared. I think he’s probably going to try to gain some weight going into this and, you know, come in ready to give me a battle. So I expect nothing less than that with this.”
Eddie Hall vs. Robert Oberst
While Eddie Hall did suffer a loss against Brian Shaw in their matchup, he still walked away with a lot of praise from the fans. Many admired his movement on the arm wrestling table and the fact that he managed to get into very decent shape at short notice. Hall also left the option of returning to arm wrestling open. He is now first looking to take on Mariusz Pudzianowski in an MMA match but will then shift his focus to arm wrestling again.
Eddie Hall’s opponent will be none other than Robert Oberst. He is a former elite Strongman athlete and one of Eddie Hall’s biggest rivals throughout the years. The two men often tease each other due to their competitive spirits, which is why Brian Shaw expects to see some entertaining moments in the build-up to their arm wrestling match.
“Eddie Hall will be coming back. He got the arm wrestling bug. I know he’s got the fight with Mariusz Pudzianowski, but after that, he is fully committed to training for arm wrestling, and he’s very excited. And I think he’s very excited about his opponent, because his opponent will be Robert Oberst…
Robert Oberst—another former strongman that’s transitioning over into arm wrestling… He’s very, very excited about this, and I think there will definitely be some fireworks between those two. I can only imagine what is going to get said in the buildup to the super match, but, you know, that’s part of it, right? It’s going to be entertaining.”
