CJ Cummings is one of the best -73kg weightlifters in this generation. He firmly cemented his place there, with an outstanding performance in the gym recently.

Cummings has been dominating the USA Weightlifting circuit over the calendar year, establishing his place among the top in the world. He has been doing everything in his power to earn a place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This includes breaking 15 records in the Pan American Championships. Additionally, he won the IWF Junior World Championship for the fourth time.

Subsequently, Cummings was back in the gym recently, to increase his gains even more. Here, he wanted to display his incredible strength. He did so by landing a massive 205kg/452lb overhead squat. Moreover, Cummings put a stamp on the performance by beginning it with a walkout.

Cummings uploaded a video of the showing to his Instagram page.

Woah, that is a pretty serious overhead squat. Cummings’ form is good, but that walkout was still nerve-wracking. The bar was incredibly wobbly, something which would throw off less experienced athletes. However that did not deter Cummings from doing the walkout, reaffirming just how skilled he is. “Slow and steady” is exactly how that needed to be done, and it led him to an impressive performance.

Cummings is no stranger to hitting massive overhead squats in the gym. His Instagram is full of videos of him in the gym, looking incredible. However this showing specifically, was on another level.

CJ Cummings is without a doubt one of the best weightlifters that the United States has to offer. He will more than likely make the coveted spot on the U.S. Olympic Weightlifting Team for the 2020 Tokyo Games. On top of that, if he continues to put in work like this, it would be little surprise to see him earn some gold.
