Strongman Eddie Hall put the carbs away and focused on protein with his latest dieting endeavor. In a recent video shared on August 11, 2024, the strongman legend showed off his beastly and fulfilling 8,454-calorie carnivore meal plan as he continues to enjoy the comfort of retirement.
While he’s known for his eccentric and boisterous personality, Eddie Hall was made famous thanks to his herculean strength, which has been on display in countless strongman appearances. Having won gold at the World’s Strongest Man contest in 2017, Hall’s endurance, stamina, and power are not to be underestimated. At one point, he held the all-time world record in the elephant bar deadlift before his arch-rival, Hafthor Bjornsson took that honor from him.
Aside from conquering the world of strongman, Hall has taken a keen interest in combat sports. Although he came up short in a boxing match against Bjornsson, he found immense success with his power, dropping ‘The Mountain’ on multiple occasions.
This wasn’t the last time we’d see Hall take part in combat. The famed strongman turned heads recently after decimating ‘The Neffati Brothers’ in a special two-on-one MMA match at the World Freak Fight League event, held on June 7. In between his various athletic ventures, Hall made time to break down his calorie-rich carnivore diet.

Strongman Legend Eddie Hall Shares Filling 8,454-Calorie Carnivore Diet
Find his meals below:
Meal 1
- 500 grams Salmon
- Five eggs
- 350 grams of cottage Cheese
- Milk
- 50 grams Butter
To kick off his carnivore diet, Hall enjoyed cottage cheese, eggs, and smoked salmon.
“So, 1,500 calories, and 106 grams protein. First thing in the morning. That’s a good diet,” says Hall. “Wasn’t Schwarzenegger that famously said about a gram and a half per pound? So, a gram and a half, so 550 grams of protein, so that’s my target for the day.”
Meal 2
- Rib eye Steak
- Eight eggs
- Milk
- 50 grams Butter
His next meal was steak with eggs, prioritizing quality protein.
“That doesn’t sound too bad,” said Hall. “So the total calories for lunch is going to be 2,471, protein, is 96, eggs, 48, milk 18, and the butter none. So the total protein is 162 grams of protein plus what I had for breakfast.”
Meal 3
- Beast Pharm Whey 2 scoops
Meal 4
- Rib eye steak
- Three eggs
- 50 grams Butter
Hall appreciates the diet but mentioned that eating mainly carnivore comes at a heavy financial cost. Conversely, when he competed in strongman, he underlined that the food was more affordable.
“I’m loving this diet, it’s expensive though, isn’t it? Just 480 pounds a week just on food,” says Hall. “When I’m doing strongman it’s probably around 250-300, it’s more food but less money.
The strongman days, I’d eat a steak with I don’t know, half a kilo of pasta or rice, vegetables, and then have a family cheesecake, just piling in the calories with just cheap stuff.”
Meal 5
- 500 grams Salmon
- Five eggs
- Bone broth
- 50 grams Butter
New to the carnivore diet, Eddie Hall revealed that the routine has kept him satiated for the most part.
“I’m not hungry, I’m not peckish, but I’m not hungry. So half a kilo of salmon and five eggs is probably enough. I’ve got to eat the volume you know, especially as my body has to adjust and get used to this. If I’m being honest I’m probably going through today, I wrote today’s menu out last night. Scripted it all out and thought to myself, yeah that’s about right.”
“I’ll be honest, I’m not coming into every meal hungry,” he adds.
Snack
- Yogurt
- Bone broth
