Lefteris Theofanidis And Emma McQuaid set the bar for CrossFit Open Workout 20.1

The numbers are in and Emma McQuaid and Lefteris Theofanidis sit atop the CrossFit leader boards.

CrossFit Open Workout 20.1 are in the books and CrossFit HQ has announced the winners. Both McQuaid and Theofanidis go down as the champions of the first 2020 Workout.

Per CrossFit HQ, the best athletes completed all 180 reps in 20.1 in a range between 7:40-8:30 time. Theofanidis topped the men’s division with a 8:05 score while McQuaid won the women’s with a 7:55. McQuaid originally posted a score of 7:41 but was assessed two penalties, one for a no rep on a burpee and another for a false start.

10 Rounds
8 Ground-to-Overhead (95 lbs for men, 65 lbs for women)
10 Bar Facing Burpees
Time Cap: 15-minutes

Equipment Needed

Barbell(s)
Standard bumper plates (18-inch diameter) to load barbell for burpee
Collars to secure the plates on the barbell
Plates to load to the appropriate weight for your division

Here is Lefteris Theofanidis completing the workout.

Theofanidis, Greece’s reigning fittest man in the country. He is also a member of the Hellenic Air Force and a former track athlete. The 30-year-old made his CrossFit Games debut in 2019 with a 60th-place finish. Theofanidis is also a three-time Meridian/Europe Regional athlete.

Here is Emma McQuaid completing the workout.

McQuaid resides in her home country of Ireland. The 30-year-old was a four-time Meridian/Europe Regional competitor. McQuaid took 21st in her first CrossFit Games appearance last summer. The Irish woman somehow did 20.1 twice in one day and managed to shave 16 seconds off her first attempt.
