Flex Wheeler was recently forced to receive a partial leg amputation. Following the procedure, he opens up on what caused this tragedy to happen.

Wheeler recently experienced one of the biggest setbacks in all of his adult life. Following a string of health issues, he was informed that he would need a partial amputation. Subsequently, he would go through a surgical procedure to remove the lower part of his right leg.
As a result of this process, Wheeler was on the receiving end of a ton of support from the community. Initial reports from Shawn Ray briefly explained what caused the situation. Additionally, a GoFundMe was set up to help him pay for the hospital costs from the procedure. It was truly touching to see the bodybuilding community band together in support of this legend.
However, outside of an update after the fact, and a brief video before the surgery, Flex Wheeler has not really spoken up. As a result, he decided to post an emotional video to his Instagram. In the message, he expresses gratitude to the people who had been supporting him. Additionally, he decided to shed a bit of light on the situation that resulted in his leg being amputated.

According to the video, Wheeler knew of his declining health situation for quite some time before things got so serious. Apparently he knew that things would likely result in an amputation.

Moreover, he explained things changed with the death of bodybuilding legend Franco Columbo. He said that it really opened his eyes about his own health. Subsequently, the next time he went to the doctor, he decided to get the amputation.
This is a terrible situation that Flex Wheeler has been going through. All things considered however, it seems he is managing to keep himself in a positive mindset.
