Strongman icon Hafthor Bjornsson is making sure his fridge stays full in preparation for his next competition. Taking to YouTube, Bjornsson walked fans through his mouthwatering 11,547-calorie diet as he sets his sights on the 2024 Strongest Man On Earth competition, which is set to take place on August 17-18 at the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland, Colorado.
There’s no denying Hafthor Bjornsson’s contributions to the sport. He won the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2018 and broke barriers courtesy of his jaw-dropping All-Time Deadlift World Record of 1,104.5 pounds.
Two years after hanging up his wrist wraps, the Game of Thrones star tested his power and will in the boxing ring. He squared off against his long-time rival Eddie Hall in a widely publicized event. While both men found success in the form of several knockdowns, Bjornsson left the ring with his head held high via unanimous decision. Then, later decided to retire from combat sports, revealing that his heart belongs to Strongman and Powerlifting.
He eventually felt the itch to return to strength sports. However, Hafthor suffered a disastrous pec tear during a powerlifting meet. He recovered and decided to halt his powerlifting journey, but shortly after recommitted to strongman. With strongman glory once again on his radar, Bjornsson gave insight into how he’s fueling his 418-pound physique.

Ever since he returned to Strongman, Hafthor Bjornsson has been impressing everyone with his strength, particularly the deadlift. He displayed immense pulling power at the 2024 Arnold Strongman Classic, where he was the only man that exceeded 1,000 pounds on the Elephant Bar Deadlift event. However, at the same competition it became clear that his overhead strength is not what it used to be, mostly due to his pec tear. Luckily, Hafthor has predicted that he should be fully prepared by the time the 2024 Rogue Invitational rolls around.
Moreover, Hafthor Bjornsson has recently revealed that he plans to deadlift 505 kilograms (1,113.3 pounds) sometimes this year, which would further advance his own record. His goal is to perform the lift as a part of a competition and thus finally silence the haters that have had remarks about his 501-kilogram (1,104.5-pound) record.
