Hafthor Bjornsson has had his fair share of mind-blowing feats of strength in the past, but it seems that he is just now entering his prime. So, he is set to compete at the 2025 Giants Live Strongman Open & World Deadlift Championships, which will take place on September 6th in Birmingham, England. Hafthor is certainly the biggest name in the lineup, as he hopes to set a new 510-kilogram (1,124.4-pound) Deadlift World Record.

Hafthor Bjornsson is just one of two people in history who have managed to lift half a ton or more in a sanctioned competition. However, he intends to assert his dominance by pushing the record up to 510 kilograms (1,124.4 pounds). So, he will join a dozen other incredible deadlifters on the competition floor at the World Deadlift Championships, hoping to showcase his skills in a place where everyone has the same opportunities.

How to Watch Hafthor Bjornsson’s Deadlift World Record Attempt

A full livestream will be set up for the 2025 Giants Live Strongman Open & World Deadlift Championships. So, everyone will be capable of watching Hafthor Bjornsson’s attempt live from the comfort of their home. However, it is important to note that it is a PPV (Pay-Per-View) broadcast.

The livestream is organized by Giants Live / Official Strongman and it can be purchased on their website. For those who decide to enroll, they will also get access to the full 2025 Giants Live Strongman Open. The competitions start on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. UK time.

Note: The 2025 Giants Live Strongman Open & World Deadlift Championships are two combined competitions. So, the World Deadlift Championships will also count as the first event of the Strongman Open (Max Deadlift), giving out points to athletes based on their placement.

Eddie Hall was the first man to deadlift 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) back in 2016 and held that record until 2020, when Hafthor Bjornsson broke it by 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds). However, Hafthor’s lift was controversial in the opinion of some, since he completed it in his own gym due to COVID-19. This sparked a feud between Hall and Bjornsson, which ultimately led to a boxing match between the two. Hafthor won the fight with all judges scoring the match in his favor.

Fast forward to July 2025, and Hafthor Bjornsson decided to silence those who undermined his lift with a 505-kilogram (1,113.3-pound) Deadlift World Record. He achieved the pull at the 2025 Eisenhart Black Competition. However, he still believed that the lift didn’t demonstrate his power to the fullest, which prompted him to accept his invitation for the 2025 World Deadlift Championships.

Hafthor Bjornsson has made sure that every aspect of his preparation for the 510-kilogram (1,124.4-pound) Deadlift World Record is perfect, including his diet. Recently, Hafthor decided to consult Dr. Mike Israetel in regard to his 8,000-calorie full day of eating. Mike gave his approval of the diet, stating that it is perfect for building peak strength.

Having won basically all major Strongman competitions over the course of his career, including the 2018 World’s Strongest Man, Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man, and many others, Hafthor decided to shift his focus on breaking World Records. Well, his journey now leads him to the 2025 World Deadlift Championships, where he will get an opportunity to make history with a 510-kilogram (1,124.4-pound) lift.
