Hugh Jackman Shows Off Washboard Abs and Shredded Physique at 55 Years Old

Aging like fine wine: Australian actor Hugh Jackman boasted deeply separated abs and a shredded build in a recent physique update.

Age…and apparently body fat aren’t a problem for Hugh Jackman. In a recent Instagram post shared on September 4, 2024, the Wolverine star showed off his impressively shredded physique at 55 years old.

Australian actor Hugh Jackman has played the part of Wolverine on and off since his debut in the movie X-Men in 2000 and has since starred in a plethora of Marvel Cinematic Universe motion pictures. However, fans remember Jackman for his ripped physique, which seemingly only gets better with age.

While some speculate Jackman might have used steroids to achieve his muscular build, he insists he built his body the “old school way.” His methods include brutal workouts like his intense leg day training and beastly core sessions that even have his younger co-star Ryan Reynolds struggling to keep up.

Jackman recently shared an update on Instagram, proudly displaying his shredded physique that emphasized his clearly defined six-pack abs.

“I am grateful,” Jackman wrote in his post. 

While Hugh Jackman was filming for the recent Deadpool 3 movie that came out on July 26, 2024, he gave fans a glimpse at his training. Jackman revealed how he built his biceps and then showed off his incredible gains by sharing a body transformation, only further teasing his fans while they anxiously awaited the release of the new movie. 

Jackman has credited much of his success to his dedicated team.

“I had an incredible team that helped me,” he explained. “Beth Lewis, my trainer for five years, has kept me in shape through arena shows, Broadway musicals, and now this. She never makes me overwork and has helped me overcome years of shoulder and knee pain.”

Jackman also highlighted the support of his nutrition team, noting

“For a year and a half, I had someone preparing my meals, which made it so much easier.” He detailed the challenges, including managing macros, which are the specific grams of protein, fat, or carbohydrates required at different phases of training.

If there was any doubt regarding Hugh Jackman’s training practices, exercise scientist Dr. Mike Israetel quickly put those to rest after critiquing the effectiveness of his workouts. While Dr. Israetel suggested a few tweaks, he expressed overall respect for Jackman’s athletic prowess.

Hugh Jackman’s top-notch look may seem impossible to achieve, but with this eight-week workout program, you too can be ripped like the Wolverine in no time. Or, you can simply enjoy the fruits of Jackman’s labors on the couch while watching him on the big screen, no sweat required.

Hugh Jackman is already preparing for his next big role in the movie The Death of Robin Hood, estimated to come out in 2026. If Jackman’s previous endeavors were any indicator, he will more than likely be ripped as ever, and if you’re lucky, he might even take his shirt off!
