Over the last few months, Larry Wheels has been doing some strongman training. Recently he got to work with former World’s Strongest Man Hafthor Bjornsson, and even arm wrestled the Mountain.

Wheels has been hinting at a move to strongman for a while, and has even been doing the training to back it up. Just recently we saw him doing all kinds of feats of strength that would prepare him for that sport.

Since returning to strength training, follow a brief hiatus to hone his arm wrestling craft, it seems like Larry has been doing nothing but strongman work. It makes it interesting to ponder how he would do in this sport.

Recently Larry Wheels got to really put his skills to the test, when Hafthor Bjornsson stopped by his gym. The Icelandic strongman champ was in town for his exhibition boxing match against Steven Ward, and decided to pop in for a training session with Larry.

A few clips that Wheels posted to Instagram see the pair going toe-to-toe at arm wrestling, in which Larry easily gets the better of his much larger opponent. Then things got interesting, as Thor shared some strongman training tips for the powerlifter.

“Some action from today! So happy to have @thorbjornsson spend some time with @monstermichaeltodd and I on the table!
162kg log x3
140kg farmers each hand
320kg SSB squat X5”

During the training clips, you can see Thor giving some pointers to Wheels, who looked pretty solid overall. Bjornsson even commented on the post that Larry shared, telling him that he had made some big improvements.

This was a clear learning experience for both men, as Larry was also able to give Hafthor some training on arm wrestling technique, alongside Michael Todd. He also posted about the session, and expressed how much fun it was.

“Got a good armwrestling lesson from @monstermichaeltodd and @larrywheels ! Fun sport and definitely something I’d look into more in the future!”

In the comments of this post, Wheels told Bjornsson that he was excited to see the strongman put some serious focus into arm wrestling. It is not hard to imagine why, as Thor would likely be a force to be reckoned with, after learning more technique.

For now, Hafthor Bjornsson is focused on boxing training, while Larry Wheels is still learning strongman. However it was cool to see both of these legends training together, and helping each other learn and improve.
