Fitness sensation Larry Wheels made a name for himself with his insane feats of strength in powerlifting and other sporting formats. In a recent post made on Instagram, Wheels shared a shredded physique update teasing his highly anticipated move to bodybuilding as a Classic Physique competitor.
Larry Wheels emerged as a powerlifting sensation in 2017. He set the World Record of 2,275 pounds total without wraps on squat, bench, and deadlift in the 275-lb division. Even as a powerlifter, he boasted an impressive physique more suitable for a professional bodybuilder. He tried his hand at amateur bodybuilding and found success as the winner of the NPC Gold Coast Muscle Classic in Feb. 2018.
While preparing for the 2022 Middle East’s Strongest Man, Wheels picked up a back injury that forced his withdrawal from the contest. The setback inspired him to leave using steroids. Since he had been consuming them regularly for about a decade, he could not quit instantly and needed to get on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).
Wheels joined forces with fitness star Lexx Little for a brutal lower-body training session two months ago. He smashed past a huge 505-lb squat for 16-rep AMRAP (as many reps as possible) and pushed Lexx to record a new PR of 600 pounds on the squat after two years.
IFBB Pro Joe Mackey teamed up with Wheels in his pursuit of entering the 1,000-lb (453.6-kg) deadlift club. Mackey declared his ambitions to become the strongest IFBB Pro competitor and believed the partnership would help him get there. A few days later, they got together for a fierce chest workout. Wheels scored a heavy 200-lb dumbbell bench press for three reps.
Wheels left the fans stunned with a ripped physique update while demolishing a huge set of 100-lb hammer curls for reps last month. Later, he showed off his strength by performing a 200-lb dumbbell bench press for six reps without any changes in his TRT dosage.
