Nathan De Asha has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 Mr. Olympia just days before the competition is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nathan De Asha revealed his decision via a YouTube video on October 5th, giving an elaborate explanation for why he pulled out of the biggest bodybuilding competition of the year.
It is important to note that Nathan De Asha’s health is perfectly fine, meaning that other factors forced him to pull out of the 2024 Mr. Olympia. Nathan no longer feels the urgency to compete at the aforementioned competition, stating that he has to prioritize other aspects of his life and career.
“For some people, the Olympia is the be-all and end-all. For me it is not. It is a long week for pro athletes. A lot of people say it is the best show, but behind closed doors, on the other side of it, you are working from Wednesday until sunday. It is hard. It is tiring.”
Most notably, British Nathan De Asha found that competing at the 2024 Mr. Olympia was completely illogical in the financial sense, as his potential earnings would not be fulfilling, considering just how high the expenses would be.
“For me, I see bodybuilding now as a business in which I want to succeed. Right now, financially, the Olympia is just not there for me… I’ve got myself, two kids, my partner… If I want to go to the Olympia, I need five flights, that is 800 pounds per flight. Then we come to the accommodation… If you win anything you get taxed.”

Nathan De Asha also pointed out that, in his opinion, he should have been ranked higher in some of his previous appearances. So, with how he is looking at the moment, Nathan believes that he would not be battling for the top spots at this moment in time. In turn, seeing that the pay for seventh place and lower is not sufficient enough for him, he decided to withdraw from the 2024 Mr. Olympia and turn his focus elsewhere.
“Looking back at my previous shows, I believe I should have placed higher than where I did… If you look at it, you have got your top six already. So, everyone is fighting for 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th. You don’t make any money out of it.”
The fact that Nathan De Asha has withdrawn from the 2024 Mr. Olympia does not mean that he will no longer strive to compete there in the future. Instead, he points out that his next appearance at the Olympia will happen once he is absolutely certain of making the first call out.
On the other hand, Nathan De Asha is also grateful for what the Arnold Classic crew has done for him. For that reason, he has turned his focus towards Arnolds, wanting to turn up bigger and better in 2025. The 2025 Arnold Classic will take place on Feb. 27th – Mar. 2nd, in Columbus, Ohio.
“When it is undeniable that they have to give me the first call out, that is when I will attend it (Mr. Olympia)… I’m looking forward to the Arnolds, where everyone gets a fair shot. I believe that at the Arnold (Classic) there is a level playing field. So, that is where I want to go.”
Nathan De Asha has made a name for himself in the last decade or so, making his first Mr. Olympia appearance back in 2016. He proceeded to compete in the following two years, 2017 & 2018. However, he has since not appeared in the prestigious show despite qualifying on some occasions.
Just last year, Nathan De Asha traveled all the way to the USA to compete at the Mr. Olympia, but was denied entry to the country and sent back to the UK. Moreover, in years prior to that, Nathan was unable to compete for other reasons. He has also battled injuries in the past, such as his bicep tear in 2022.

Luckily, Nathan is a freak of nature, filled with potential. Moreover, he seems dedicated to building the best version of his physique yet, which is an exciting occurrence for everyone in the bodybuilding community.
Apart from Nathan De Asha, Nick Walker has also decided to pull out from the 2024 Mr. Olympia. The decision was also made after much consideration, but Walker realized he wouldn’t be able to present himself in the best way possible. In addition, Behrooz Tabani was supposed to compete at the 2024 Mr. Olympia, but visa problems forced him to withdraw.
