Preparing for a bodybuilding contest takes commitment and hard work, something Nick Walker understands fully, so the reward needs to be worth the effort. In a recent YouTube video, Nick Walker revealed how much prize money an event would need to offer to get him to compete.
Nick ‘The Mutant’ Walker has proved himself a formidable opponent in the last few years. However, when the unimaginable happened in 2023 leaving Walker on the sidelines due to a hamstring and calf tear, he vowed he’d be back by 2024 looking better than ever.
Following his injury, Nick Walker felt he deserved a special invite, though as time passed, Walker decided he wanted to earn his ticket to the Olympia stage. ‘The Mutant’ set his sights on the 2024 New York Pro, where a combination of insane development and symmetry resulted in victory.
Nick Walker Reveals How Much Money Would Entice Him To Compete in Smaller Bodybuilding Show
Despite making it look easy, Walker knows better than anyone the cost of competing on stage. From dieting to training camps, it all can take a toll mentally and physically. In a recent YouTube video, Nick Walker revealed how much prize money a show needs to be offering to entice him to enter.

“How about this, what’s enough prize money to make a top guy like you interested in doing those shows? I think promoters should hear this. What’s the prize money to get somebody like a Nick Walker or let’s say a Derek?” asks Guy Cisternino.
After being asked by Guy Cisternino, Walker said the magic number was around $50,000.
“I’d say 50 [grand] at least,” said Walker. “I say that because nobody has that. You know what I’m saying? No one has a 50K show, the highest I think was 30 which was New York. So, if they were doing 50-75K I’d be like yeah, fuck it. Okay, maybe.”
“I would say it’d have to start at 50 at least,” says Walker.
Obviously, prize money is an important aspect of competing in bodybuilding. Arnold Schwarzenegger made it clear earlier this year after increasing the 2025 Arnold Classic Open prize money to $500,000. However, this sparked quite a bit of controversy.
While Schwarzenegger did make an increase in the prize money, he only did it for the Men’s Open category. Many other bodybuilders, including retired Pro Iris Kyle, spoke up about how this excluded all the other divisions that were able to compete at the Arnold Classic. She also highlighted that many categories such as Women’s Bodybuilding, Figure, and Women’s Physique weren’t even on the roster.
Additionally, this left fans and fellow athletes like Shawn Ray hoping the Mr. Olympia event would follow suit by also raising the prize money. The 2024 Mr. Olympia is just 16 weeks away and unfortunately, there has been no discussion about this matter.
Considering the money, training, and pure dedication required to compete at events, it isn’t surprising that Nick Walker would need to earn at least $50,000 to take the stage. Thankfully, fans can still look forward to seeing Walker this October at the prestigious Mr. Olympia event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
