Ronnie Coleman Shares ‘Good Ol’ Chicken and Rice’ Recipe He Used to Fuel His Mr. Olympia Dynasty

Coleman gave step by step instructions on how to craft his go-to chicken and rice recipe he utilized to win eight Mr. Olympia titles.

We all know bodybuilding legend Ronnie Coleman for his feats of strength and bodybuilding career but forget about his skills in the kitchen. Taking to YouTube on October 28, 2024, he unveiled his secret chicken and rice recipe that he used to fuel his Mr. Olympia dynasty in the 2000s. 

“Today, we’re going to cook chicken and rice, good ol’ chicken, yeah buddy. Whatever you do, don’t forget that barbecue sauce, good ol’ flavoring.” 

Fans continue to raise questions about Coleman’s diet given the sheer mass and conditioning that he displayed throughout his bodybuilding tenure. He was easily one of the biggest talents to shake up the IFBB Pro League, leaving many curious about the foods he ate to build such a monstrous physique. 

He gave fans a breakdown on how to enjoy his protein-packed grits and egg whites previously. Now, we have been honored by ‘The King’ himself once again with another culinary gem. It’s time to cook up some chicken and rice — the quickest way to a bodybuilder’s heart… or stomach.

  • Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue Sauce 
  • Organic Rice 
  • Chicken Breasts 
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Black Pepper
  • Salt 

Step By Step Guide for Preparing Chicken 

  • Step 1 – Wash Protein
  • Step 2 – Season Protein on Both Sides 
  • Step 3 – Grill Protein 
  • Step 4 – Apply Barbecue Sauce 

“First thing I do is wash it up real good, like so, make sure it’s all good and clean,” says Coleman. “Now the chicken is all good and cooked up, time for good ol’ barbecue sauce.” 

Instructions for Rice 

  • On stove, bring water to simmer on medium high 
  • Turn down to low, cover with lid 
  • Cook rice 13 minutes, Rest 10 minutes 
  • Enjoy

Final Touch

  • Add Molly Cheese on Rice 

“Makes it good and tasty,” says Coleman. “Stir it up real nice and good.” 

“You guys know this is one of my favorite meals of the day, next to the steak,” adds Coleman.

In retirement, Coleman has been candid with fans about the health sacrifices he has endured. Speaking with his rival Jay Cutler, Coleman revealed a two-year timeline for when he’ll be able to walk again without assistance. He’s utilized several rounds of stem cell procedures to get his body back on track. 

Having earned eight Mr. Olympia titles in the prime of his career, Coleman weaponized his diet like no other bodybuilder. Fans and athletes of today can take lessons from how he approached meeting his protein needs and diet.
