Classic Physique’s Sam Sulek wants his legs to be a strength the next time he steps onstage. On March 7, 2025, he pushes through an exhausting leg day workout as he settles into his first off-season as an IFBB Pro.
Sam Sulek‘s been on a roll since announcing his foray into bodybuilding. He won his NPC bodybuilding debut at the 2025 Legends Classic. This triumph allowed him to test his limits on the prestigious Arnold Amateur stage. Despite some doubting his abilities, Sulek thrived under pressure, securing his IFBB Pro card.
Sulek aims to continue improving for the IFBB Pro League‘s Classic Physique division. That means intense yet calculated training sessions, especially for growing his legs, which many believe was one area he needed to refine for a bright future as a Pro.

Lying Hamstring Curls
Sulek likes sticking with four sets of hamstrings before moving to other movements like the leg press or leg extension machine.
“Four good sets of hamstrings, assuming that I want to do some leg press next because even though leg press is primarily quad, there is enough hamstring activation that it’s worth at least thinking about balancing out your leg day.”
Seated Single Leg Extensions (to failure)
Sulek went to failure on leg extensions, focusing on each leg separately with a squeeze and hold for each repetition.
“Here with 50 pounds single leg, literally a third of what I’m doing for this working set and just light squeezing and holding and burning fashion, I’d be good. I wouldn’t get that same quad activation with like a leg press or something.”
Seated Single Leg Extensions (slow and controlled)
Using a lighter weight, the newly turned IFBB Pro executed slow eccentrics on the single leg extensions and didn’t go to failure on these.
“A lighter single leg alternating five reps squeezed. So, I want the reps to have a full hold as if I’m trying to bend my leg backwards onto itself.
I want it to go so hard that I want to feel my quad pull my shin upward at least for a moment in the hold and then reasonably slow eccentric.”
Back Barbell Squat
The true meat and potatoes portion of the workout followed extensions. Sulek fired off intense sets of back barbell squats.
“If you don’t squat for a while, four plates feels heavy, not cool. But, it doesn’t really matter what the actual poundage is, it feels like as much as I can do so I know if I take this to failure, that’s essentially killing it,” he shared.
Leg Press (to failure) (superset with Leg Extensions)
Catching his breath, Sulek moved into the lone superset of the workout, leg extensions to pre-exhaust along with leg press to failure.
“The leg extension superset into leg press, that’s a good one.”
While Sulek has an unbelievable amount of fans, some in the sport aren’t embracing him wholeheartedly. Namely, Tim Wilkins, who recently called Sulek ‘garbage for the sport.’ Others, like Lee Priest, disagree with Wilkins and defend Sulek.
Sulek appears determined to bring an even more complete look to his next bodybuilding contest. Should he announce his next show, Fitness Volt will have the story.
