The 2024 Mr. Olympia is around the corner, prompting athletes far and wide to deliver their highly anticipated predictions. In a recent Instagram post shared on August 29, 2024, Terrence Ruffin, who is sitting out of Olympia this year, offered his top five picks for the nearing showdown.
Ruffin bowed out of the 2024 Mr. Olympia due to an elbow injury. He also expressed that he needed to grow into the weight cap, which was modified to balance the playing field for shorter athletes. Instead, he plans to watch the show from afar, as he carefully plans his next move in the mega-popular division.
All eyes are on Chris Bumstead once again, as the Canadian champion looks to cement his reign with a sixth Classic Physique Olympia title. However, there have been whispers about him potentially hanging it up following a final victory on the sport’s biggest stage. In the past, ‘Cbum’ hinted that he planned to call it quits when he reached 30 years old.
The Classic Physique lineup has never been more interesting, which is mostly thanks to the success of Wesley Vissers, a Dutch bodybuilding phenom who took the world by storm earlier this year. He springboarded his career after upsetting Ramon Queiroz at the 2024 Arnold Classic competition, turning him into the de facto number-one contender to take out Bumstead.
In addition, Vissers picked up gold in a stunning display at the 2024 Arnold Classic UK, showcasing next-level striations and capped delts. With substantial momentum and the goal of bringing the ‘golden era’ back to the Mr. Olympia, fans expect an unforgettable showdown for Classic Physique gold.
Queiroz has promised to come back to the Olympia stage looking better than ever and Urs Kalecinski recently predicted that he’ll be the man to dethrone Bumstead when the curtains close in Las Vegas, Nevada. And who could forget about Breon Ansley? He’s the most experienced competitor in the lineup and has won the Olympia title twice throughout his illustrious career.

Terrence Ruffin Revealed His Classic Physique Predictions Ahead of the 2024 Mr. Olympia
To no surprise, Terrence ‘Ruff’ Diesel has backed Chris Bumstead to emerge victorious. In an interesting take, despite Vissers’ recent success, he still believes he’ll take third behind Ramon Queiroz in just six weeks. Check out his official picks below:
Terrence Ruffin’s Classic Physique 2024 Mr. Olympia Picks
- Chris Bumstead
- Ramon Rocha Queiroz
- Wesley Vissers
- Breon Ansley/ Urs Kalecinski
Terrence Ruffin broke down his predictions for the Classic Physique category at the 2024 Mr. Olympia this October.
“Chris (I mean he’s the champ and I have no clue how he makes weight. He could legitimately win open shows at this point)”
“Ramon (A lot of people have Wesley here but I’m going off of his prep only being 6 weeks, the judges saying he wasn’t at his best and him still only losing by one point)”
“Wesley (Wesley could place higher obviously but he clearly beaten the next two guys who were at their best on that day)”
“Breon/Urs (could go either based on how the judges called it the last couple shows.)”
Ruffin explained how he made his picks using data based on this year’s bodybuilding season rather than his personal feelings towards the athletes.
“This isn’t my personal preference or “feelings” list but I based this off of the data we have seen this year” Ruffin explained.
He also points out that there are a few wild cards within the Classic Physique division that could steal the show.
“To be honest, Mike the badass has made crazy improvements he could be up there. Stephan now working with Ptour could break in and few other guys could shake things up the same way I did, Ramon did and Urs did. No one is safe.”
Back at the 2023 Olympia contest, Bumstead was pushed like never before by Queiroz. The two were featured in the final call-out but ultimately the density, conditioning, and muscle hardness of Bumstead prevailed. What made Bumstead’s victory even more impressive was the fact that he got the job done despite a painful lat tear plaguing his Olympia preparations.
While Bumstead leads the pack as the obvious favorite heading into the 2024 Mr. Olympia, no one is safe, even a champion as dominant as him. The Mr. Olympia weekend always delivers shocking results and this year will likely be no different. Don’t miss live and comprehensive coverage of the Classic Physique action later this year from October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
