Businesses around the world are slowly getting the go-ahead to reopen amid one of the most bizarre health crisis situations in history. And with that comes a mix of emotions such as excitement, relief, and even hesitancy as many may not be entirely sure what to do now.
That’s understandable because it’s a situation none of us have ever been familiar with and safety is obviously the main priority. However, this is no time to back down because we can always make the best possible decision/s to ensure we stay safe and continue to make progress.
One person who can sympathize with the fact that gyms have been closed for a few months now is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. His career was built largely on his menacing size and dedication to having one of the most iconic physiques ever.

But The Rock has his own gym so the health situation hasn’t affected him in this regard. Although, he did take to social media to offer his best advice to those who are considering going back to the gym. He said he had been getting a lot of questions about what to do.
“I’ve been a lucky son of a bitch to have this personal gym so I’ve been training, you guys have been living vicariously through my training,” he said in the video.

This was his key advice…
“Have a plan, make a decision, have real clarity, be decisive, and then make your move. Get out there and go, go train, take that first step, that first step begins with that first rep.”
His next piece of advice was to be smart about when you get back into the gym. There obviously needs to be precautions taken for the safety of everyone in the facility. So Johnson explained that it’s important to make sure that the owners are doing their part too.
“Know your gym. You want to be cautious, make sure that you’re training smart, make sure that they’re taking the proper precautions to take care of you. Because the customer, the consumer, the people, you, you’re the number one boss.”
His last words of advice were to “make sure that you follow your gut and your instinct.”
He explained that if the gym doesn’t look sanitary, then be smart and make the right decision/s. Talk to the owners and make sure they’re enforcing proper health guidelines.
The Rock ended with, “You got to take that first step, you’ve got to complete that first rep. When you do that, that’s when you rise again.”

This is what he wrote on Instagram…
“Around the 🌎 you’re going back to your gyms to get after your goals again
Have your plan, BE DECISIVE, get to the gym and START TRAINING.
Train smart, train cautious and protect yourself.
Follow you gut.
This☝🏾is a big one.
In the end, my gut always leads and makes the final decision.
Our first steps back will always be the hardest.
We can’t be mentally handcuffed by fear and noise – get back out there, be smart, protect yourself and get back to work.
Good luck.”
The takeaway here is pretty straightforward… don’t live in fear but be smart at the same time. Don’t be afraid to go the extra mile to ensure that you and everyone around you stays safe.
