Wesley Vissers started 2025 wanting to hold onto his Arnold Classic title, but things turned out differently. The Dutch bodybuilding star lost his top spot to Germany’s Mike Sommerfeld at the Arnold Classic in March. Instead of sticking to his old ways, Vissers changed up his whole year. He showed up at the 2025 Detroit Pro in late March, took second place against a tough roster of athletes, and then decided to skip competing until 2026. Straight after the show, Wesley showed off an incredible 11,000-calorie cheat day to kick off the ‘Growth Season’.
Right after the Detroit Pro, Vissers shook off the disappointment and jumped into action. With his coach and fiancée cheering him on, he made a new plan. He traded lean cuts for a goal to get bigger and stronger. Taking 2025 off gives him time to eat smart, rest up, and fix any weak parts in his body, getting ready for a huge return next year.

“Today is going to be a full day of cheating, eating, enjoying ourselves for the first time ever, and having fun because it’s growth season. No more staying in shape to look good with social media; we’re going to be bodybuilders, and we need to get back to a healthy body percentage as quickly as possible with a healthy mindset as quickly as possible. The best way to do that is in America, enjoying all the incredible food they have here for the first time in my life.”
Round One
- Honey Glazed Donut
- Additional unspecified Chocolate Donut
- Buttercream-Filled Donut
- Dutch Crown Donut
Snack
- Mini Cinnabon
Round Two
- Cinnamon Beignets
- Slider Buns
- French Fries
- Second Cup of Coffee
Dessert
- Cinnamon Glazed Pancakes
- Apple Crumble Pancakes
- Nutella Banana Pancakes
Lunch
Having mainly consumed sweet food for his breakfast, Wesley Vissers was excited to get something more standard for his lunch. So, he made his way to the ‘Turkish Village’, ordering some bread and dip sauces as a starter. After cleaning out his plate, Wesley took on a more familiar bodybuilding lunch consisting of chicken, vegetables, and rice.
With this meal, Wesley made sure to add some protein-rich items to his daily diet. He pointed out that this was not far off from what he eats regularly, but this time the portion size was significantly larger.
Starter
- Balloon bread
- Variety of dip sauces (including hummus, baba ganoush, tahini)
Main Course
- Half a Chicken
- Grilled Vegetables
- Golden Rice
Dinner
Lastly, Wesley Vissers visited Dairy Queen for his final meal of the day. He ordered a cheeseburger and a brownie, which amounted to nearly 2,000 calories. However, even after consuming the meal, Wesley revealed that he was still capable of eating more.
- Cheeseburger
- Oreo Fudge Brownie Blizzard
“One lesson we have learned is that it’s quite easy to eat 10,000 calories or more. I don’t know the exact numbers… You know, an estimate but it’s very close, but it’s super easy to do because, you know, yes, I feel full now, but I could still eat if I wanted to.
I felt fuller before going to Dairy Queen than after, and I ate almost 2,000 calories there.”
Weight Gain
When he started off the day, Wesley Vissers weighed in at 116.7 kilograms (257.3 pounds), but he deducted 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) because he drank a lot of water before the camera started rolling. On the other hand, once he stepped on the scale later that night, his bodyweight came out to 123.7 kilograms (272.7 pounds).
So, Wesley Vissers put on 8 kilograms (17.6 pounds) in a single day. He did point out that the majority of it is water weight, since he was competing a day before, meaning that he was absolutely peeled and dried out coming into the cheat day.
“It’s so easy to overeat on fast food, which is an important lesson for everybody: it’s cheap, it’s convenient, but it has a lot of calories. Mostly that third thing (calories) is very important to keep in mind… you can overdo it in calories because it’s so cheap.”
Wesley Vissers also went out to try out the Krispy Kreme donuts the next day, as he wanted to try out some more food. He enjoyed his meals but did reveal that he is looking forward to returning to his usual diet.
