The 2022 Arnold Pro Strongwoman was held on March 4-5, 2022, in Columbus Convention Center, Ohio. Ten of the most elite Strongwoman athletes competed against each other across six events in hopes of winning one of the most prestigious competitions in the world.

The lineup for the competition was stacked, and we got to see some majestic feats of strength. The competition was not held in 2021, so Olga Liashchuk was the previous winner. She was the main favorite for the 2022 Arnold Pro Strongwoman, as she won the competition in both 2019 and 2020.

At the end of day one, Andrea Thompson and Victoria Long were sharing first place with 28 points after three events. However, Victoria Long continued with impressive performances on the second day, and got wins in two more events. These performances secured her a comfortable lead, and at the end Victoria Long was pronounced as the 2022 Arnold Pro Strongwoman Champion.

2022 Arnold Pro Strongwoman Results

  1. Victoria Long (USA) – 54.5 points
  2. Andrea Thompson (GBR) – 45.5 points
  3. Hannah Linzay (USA) – 40 points

2022 Arnold Pro Strongwoman Events Recap

Wheelbarrow Carry

Three separate wheelbarrow carts were stationed at the start line. Athletes had 1-minute to push the wheelbarrows over the line. However, the weight progressively increased, so the cart’s weight was (227 kg – 249 kg – 272 kg). If all three are completed, the time required to finish is used as a score. If not, then the covered distance represents the score.

Only two competitors were able to complete the entire event, and only 4 seconds separated them. Victoria Long looked absolutely incredible and did all three carts in one go. The winner of the 2022 Arnold Pro Strongwoman, Olga Liashchuk, was right next to Victoria, and the difference between the athletes was clear.

  1. Victoria Long (USA) – 41.44 seconds / 10 points
  2. Hannah Linzay (USA) – 45.56 seconds/ 9 points
  3. Andrea Thompson (GBR) – 42.98 meters / 8 points

Viking Press

In this event, athletes had 1-minute to complete as many reps as possible. Viking Press is essentially a shoulder overhead press, but different equipment is used instead of a normal barbell. The weight of the press was 100 kg (220.5 lbs)

Andrea Thompson was absolutely incredible at this event. She came in prepared and knew that no one was beating her on this. Victoria Long took an important second-place finish in the event.

  1. Andrea Thompson (GBR) – 20 reps / 10 points
  2. Victoria Long (USA) – 14 reps / 9 points
  3. Gabriel Burgholzer (USA) – 12 reps / 8 points
  4. Olga Liashchuk (UKR) – 11 reps / 7 points

Max Deadlift

Athletes had to lift as much weight as possible. However, the normal barbell was not used, as this was a Hummer Tire Deadlift. Truly one of the most iconic events in the sport.

After a great battle with Victoria Long, Andrea Thompson won her second event with a sensational 363 kg (800 lbs) deadlift.

  1. Andrea Thompson (GBR) – 363 kg (800 lbs) / 10 points
  2. Victoria Long (USA) – 347 kg (765 lbs) / 9 points
  3. Melissa Peacock (CAN) – 320 kg (705 lbs) / 8 points
  4. Olga Liashchuk (UKR) – 306 kg (675 lbs) / 7 points
  5. Anna Harjapää (SWE) – 293 kg (646 lbs) / 6 points
  6. Gabriel Burgholzer (USA) – 279 kg (615 lbs) / 4.5 points
  7. Hannah Linzay (USA) – 279 kg (615 lbs) / 4.5 points
  8. Donna Moore (GBR) – 265 kg (584 lbs) / 3 points

Bag Over Bar

Bag over bar is one of the simplest events there are. The bar was set at four metres, and the bags got progressively heavier with each round. The aim of the workout was to be the last one left.

Victoria Long won the event, but more importantly Andrea Thompson underperformed severly, and only secured two points.

  1. Victoria Long (USA) – 26 kg / 10 points
  2. Olga Liashchuk (UKR) – 25 kg / 9 points
  3. Hannah Linzay (USA) – 24 kg / 8points
  4. Donna Moore (GBR) – 20 kg / 6 points
  5. Gabriel Burgholzer (USA) – 20 kg / 6 points
  6. Cori Butler (USA) – 20 kg / 6 points
  7. Melissa Peacock (CAN) – 19 kg / 3.5 points
  8. Anna Harjapää (SWE) – 19 kg / 3.5 points
  9. Andrea Thompson (GBR) – 18 kg / 2 points
  10. Rebecca Lorch (USA) – 0 / 0 points

Yoke Ladder

Three progressively heavier (272 kg – 318 kg – 363 kg) Yoke Frames were placed at the start line. Athletes have 1-minute to carry each one of them for the length of 6 meters. The result is represented by the total time needed to complete the exercise. If it is not done in a 1-minute time cap, the distance covered will be used as a score.

Victoria Long secured her third event win, and pulled away even more from the rest of the pack. At this point, it was obvious that she is the winner.

  1. Victoria Long (USA) – 34.61 s / 10 points
  2. Andrea Thompson (GBR) – 34.94 s / 9 points
  3. Olga Liashchuk (UKR) – 35.56 s / 8 points
  4. Melissa Peacock (CAN) – 44.68 s / 7 points
  5. Anna Harjapää (SWE) – 55.06 s / 6 points
  6. Hannah Linzay (USA) – 57.94 s / 5 points
  7. Donna Moore (GBR) – 12.95 m / 4 points
  8. Gabriel  Burgholzer (USA) – 12.19 m / 2 points
  9. Cori Butler (USA) – 12.19 m / 2 points
  10. Rebecca Lorch (USA) – 12.19 m / 2 points

Stone Over Bar

The athletes had to lift their max weight atlas stone over a 1.22 meter bar. Hannah Linzay dominated the event, and was followed by Victoria Long and five more athletes tied in second place.

  1. Hannah Linzay (USA) – 160 kg / 10 points
  2. Victoria Long (USA) – 147 kg / 6.5 points
  3. Andrea Thompson (GBR) – 147 kg / 6.5 points
  4. Anna Harjapää (SWE) – 147 kg / 6.5 points
  5. Donna Moore (GBR) – 147 kg / 6.5 points
  6. Olga Liashchuk (UKR) – 147 kg / 6.5 points
  7. Melissa Peacock (CAN) – 147 kg / 6.5 points
  8. Cori Butler (USA) – 129 kg / 2.5 points
  9. Rebecca Lorch (USA) – 129 kg / 2.5 points
  10. Gabriel Burgholzer (USA) – 120 kg / 1 point

Victoria Long proved that she is the Strongest woman on earth currently with a very impressive performance. She did not place lower than second in any of the six events, which also shows her diverse preparation and great training.
