The 2022 Britain’s Strongest Man took place February 26th at Utilita Arena in Sheffield, England. The most elite Strongman athletes from all around Britain came together and battled against each other across five events. Only one man could stand atop the podium, and it was the reigning 2021 World’s Strongest Man, Tom Stoltman, who came out victorious and successfully defended his title.
Scotland’s Tom Stoltman was also the previous winner of Britain’s Strongest Man, and having defended his title today, he became the first Scottish athlete to do so in this century. Pa O’Dwyer looked amazing and got his best placing yet, as he finished in second place. Adam Bishop completed the podium, having finished in third place.

2022 Britain’s Strongest Man Event Recap
The Shield Carry
The aim of the shield carry is to cover as much distance as possible. The shield is weirdly shaped, making it harder for athletes to hold it for a long time. In addition, it also weighs 200 kg (440.9 lbs).
Tom Stoltman won the event with ease and made it look like he could carry the shield even further. In addition, Tom set a new Shield Carry World Record with a distance of 65.3 meters.

The Axle Deadlift
The aim of the event was to complete as many reps as possible in 60 seconds. The axle bar already makes the deadlift much harder to do, but the total weight which had to be pulled was 360 kg (793.7 lbs), which is extremely heavy.
Tom Stoltman and Adam Bishop tied for first place. Adam put up a brilliant performance, despite not wearing a deadlift suit, which he could have done. O’Dwyer continued with impressive lifts, while Luke Stoltman was forced to withdraw after the event, which took a big emotional toll on him.

Shane Flowers won the event with an incredible run, which saw him complete all sandbag tosses 4 seconds faster than Tom. This was the only event in which Tom didn’t come in the first place.
