It’s never a quiet weekend in bodybuilding. Even though the 2023 Olympia contest wrapped up a week ago, that hasn’t stopped athletes from aiming to secure entry to next year’s edition of the event. On November 11, competitors from the Classic Physique and Figure categories battled in San Marcos, Texas at the 2023 Texas State Pro for a qualification to 2024 Mr. Olympia.
In a division ruled by five-time Classic Physique Olympia Chris Bumstead, standing out is no easy feat. At the 2023 Olympia show, Bumstead extended his lead as the dominant champion and has no intention of surrendering the throne quietly in the future.
As for Figure talent, all roads lead to the highly dominant seven-time champion Cydney Gillon. Having just recently claimed another gold trophy at the sport’s biggest showcase, athletes continue to show what is possible at the very top of the IFBB Pro League. This show was a qualifier for the 2024 Mr. Olympia taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada October 10-13.

2023 Texas State Pro Results
Classic Physique
Sticking around in America after placing third at the 2023 Olympia, Urs Kalecinski made the most of his trip, having traveled to the Texas State Pro. Kalecinski’s balance and aesthetics were on full display this weekend. His lower body and cross striations in the quads stole the show from the moment he arrived on stage in prejudging.
Ultimately, Kalecinski was challenged by Eric Wildberger Lisboa and Mehdi Larijani the most. Mehdi’s last appearance came at the 2023 Hurricane Pro in October (DNF). While he brought a shredded look and excellent symmetry, it was Kalecinski’s night in the end. Since Kalecinski was already qualified for 2024 Mr. Olympia, he prevented Larijani from his respective entry. Larijani took second, and Eric Wildberger Lisboa finished in third.
