The 2025 World’s Strongest Man Finals concluded on May 18th in Sacramento, California, wrapping up with a high-stakes second day that featured just two events: the Flintstone Barbell and the Atlas Stones. As the final chance for athletes to score points, Day Two proved to be the most crucial. In the end, it was Rayno Nel who rose to the occasion and captured the title.
Despite entering the day with a commanding lead, Nel stumbled in the Flintstone Barbell, finishing in eighth place. This opened the door for Tom Stoltman, who capitalized on the moment to narrow the gap. With everything riding on the Atlas Stones, Stoltman delivered a dominant run. Still, it wasn’t enough to dethrone Nel, who held on to become the 2025 World’s Strongest Man.

Event Recap
Event Four — Flintstone Barbell Max
The penultimate event of the 2025 World’s Strongest Man was the Flintstone Barbell Max. It is a returning event to the competition, and it was once again a spectacular test of strength. The principle of it was overhead pressing as much weight as possible overhead. However, instead of getting the bar up from the floor, the athletes performed the press from the blocks, allowing them to preserve some energy for the press.
The start of day two shook up the rankings, as an incredible performance from Tom Stoltman put him back in contention for the title. He managed to lift 241 kilograms (531.3 pounds) over his head, which was enough for first place. However, Trey Mitchell achieved an identical lift, meaning that they had to share the top spot.

Mitchell Hooper finished in third place on the Flintstone Barbell, locking out 230 kilograms (507.1 pounds) on his last successful attempt. He also had to share his spot with the 23-year-old Ondrej Fojtu, who lifted the same weight.
What came as the biggest surprise was Rayno Nel’s 8th place finish, which cost him a lot of points in the overall standings. He was close to completing the next weight jump as well but couldn’t maintain the lockout position with 200 kilograms (440.9 pounds) on his hands.

Event Five — Atlas Stones
The Atlas Stones were the final event of the 2025 World’s Strongest Man. The weight of the stones started at 140 kilograms (308.6 pounds) and increased all the way up to 210 kilograms (463 pounds) on the final implement.
As expected, Tom Stoltman crushed the Atlas Stones, effortlessly lifting all five. With his job done, he turned to watch Rayno Nel, knowing the outcome of the entire competition now hinged on the South African Strongman’s performance.
Trey Mitchell was the only other man apart from Tom Stoltman to finish the entire event, loading the fifth stone in 41.08 seconds. However, the highlight of the event was Rayno Nel’s third-place finish, which officially made him the 2025 World’s Strongest Man champion. He secured the third-place in the event after he beat Mitchell Hooper by just 0.85 seconds. So, if he was just one second slower, Rayno would not have won the competition.
