Despite carrying some excess weight from the bobsled season, Tia-Clair Toomey is still amongst the greatest performers in the 2022 CrossFit. Tia-Clair has also not had much time to prepare, as she hoped to be invited to the Australian team for the 2022 Beijing Olympics. For approximately 6 months, she only focused on bobsled and neglected the CrossFit training. However, Tia-Clair Toomey’s 22.3 Open Workout Result was 4:12, which is just one second slower than the event and overall winner, Mal O’Brien.

Courtesy of her YouTube channel, you can watch Tia-Clair’s performance here:

“Looking back at it, I think I could have gone a little faster… The Open. It allowed me to find myself again, especially coming back from a different sport and facing different challenges… The Open was a really great reminder of how much I love CrossFit.”

Road To Finals

This could be the year that Tia-Clair Toomey claims the greatest accomplishment in the sport yet. She is chasing for her sixth CrossFit Games title, which would make her the athlete with the most wins in history. Tia-Clair and her coach, Shane Orr, have talked about their plans for the 2022 Season in a YouTube video recently. They already knew that she would succeed in the Open and started planning for the future.

The next step of qualifying will be the CrossFit Quarterfinals, which will take place from March 24th to April 24th. Only 10% of athletes from each continent will get the chance to compete in the Online Quarterfinals.

300 athletes will then move on to the CrossFit Semifinals, which is the last filter before the most prestigious competition in CrossFit. The Semifinals will take place from May 20th to June 12th, 2022. The format of the competition will be 10 separate competitions across 6 different continents.

The end goal for every athlete this year is the 2022 CrossFit Games, which will take place from August 3-7, in Madison, Wisconsin. However, only 40 athletes who were the best in previous qualifying rounds will get to compete for the title of Fittest On Earth.
