William Bonac is shifting his attention away from bodybuilding for the next several months. Following his seventh-place finish at the 2023 Arnold Classic, Bonac has suspended his season to focus on family and businesses outside of the sport.

As a two-time Arnold Classic champion (2018,2020), Bonac has cemented himself as one of the best Men’s Open talents in the world. In addition to pro titles, Bonac proved himself against top-tier talent on the Mr. Olympia stage. He came the closest to a Sandow trophy in 2019 when he earned runner-up to former champion Brandon Curry.

Last year (2022), Bonac aimed to solidify himself as a three-time Arnold Classic winner. Even though he brought one of his most conditioned looks to date, he was unable to surpass Curry on the scorecards. With no time to waste, Bonac returned a week later to the 2022 Boston Pro and won first place. This guaranteed him passage to the Olympia contest last December, where he dropped to ninth, respectively.

At ‘The Conqueror’s’ latest bodybuilding contest, he earned seventh place against a stacked Open lineup at the 2023 Arnold Classic, won by Samson Dauda. Unlike last year, it appears Bonac will not make a quick turnaround at another bodybuilding contest.

William Bonac Taking the Year Away from Bodybuilding, Promises Return at 2024 Arnold Classic

William Bonac plans to step away from bodybuilding for the rest of the year. He said his focus for the time being will be on family and other businesses.

“Well that was a long season for me!!

*2020 third attempt 🥇 place
*2021 fourth attempt I missed it due 2 travel restrictions at two wks out.
*2022 fifth attempt 🥈 place
*2023 six attempt 7th place 🤦🏾‍♂️

I can honestly say I won’t missed my diet for a while 😂

Time to focus on family & other business aside from bodybuilding.

Before competing in Ohio at the Arnold Classic, some fans questioned Bonac’s health. In a Muscular Development interview, Bonac revealed he was having kidney issues. To remedy the problem, he said he could use medication but had to wait until his Arnold Classic prep was over. After hearing of Bonac’s kidney troubles, former Mr. Olympia Samir Bannout suggested he prioritize his health and drop out of the Arnold Classic.

In a video published days later with IFBB AMA, Bonac refuted the kidney issues and said his statements were taken out of context. He completed blood work before competing at the Arnold Classic and said his health was in good standing.
