Others have pushed themselves as Arrington has, one being Toshisuke Kanazawa, who broke the record of oldest Japanese bodybuilder when he competed at the 68th edition of the Men’s Japan Bodybuilding Championship in Osaka. While he didn’t place in the top 12, Kanazawa is determined to keep competing and continues to set goals to further challenge himself.
Though the sport is thought to be a young man’s game, plenty of bodybuilders have found success in their older age. Just this year, fans saw the return of Master’s Olympia with men over 40 who still had the desire to compete. Kamal Elgargni, one of the 212’s finest, took home the win in Men’s Open gold at 51 years old and looked more ripped than ever.
