Chris Bumstead is making the most of his off-season but he hasn’t let his nutrition fall by the wayside. In a recent YouTube video, Cbum breaks down what is in his protein shake while enjoying his trip to Aspen.
In November 2023, Chris Bumstead captivated the bodybuilding community with his remarkable performance on the Mr. Olympia stage. Demonstrating an impeccable blend of aesthetics, taper, and stature, Bumstead took home the gold, securing his fifth Classic Physique title.
Since his incredible performance on stage, ‘Cbum’ has been keeping himself busy. Just one week after taking the win at Olympia, Bumstead announced that he and his fiancée Courtney King were expecting a baby in 2024. Shortly after that, the five-time champion underwent a renal artery injection of stem cells to help with kidney regeneration as a preventative measure.
Bumstead continued his refinements while joining his brother-in-law Iain Valliere in Turkey for hair transplant treatments, marking another step in his quest for self-improvement. Bumstead shared that his goals for this off-season are to continue putting on more muscle while staying motivated.

Chris Bumstead Shares His Oreo McFlurry-Like Protein Shake Recipe
Even when on vacation, Chris Bumstead stayed focused on not only his training but his nutrition as well. While away in Aspen, Bumstead broke down what he put into his protein shake which was packed with vitamins and according to ‘Cbum’, tastes just like an Oreo McFlurry.
Cbum’s Protein Shake
- Almond Milk
- 2 Scoops Cookie and Cream Raw Protein Powder
- 1 Banana
- 2 Scoops Collagen Powder
- 2 Scoops Fiber
- Ice
- Vanilla Chocolate Chip Granola
Not only did Chris Bumstead share what he puts in his milkshake, but he also gave step-by-step directions on how to make it to his liking.
To start, Cbum adds almond milk along with the Raw protein powder followed by a whole banana.
“I am going to be making myself a little shake. I never used to do almond milk, I did water, but it just taste better with it. I’ve been loving this cookies and cream protein and I do a little trick to it to make it taste even better.
So I blend this in there, I am going to do two scoops because I’ve got nothing else to eat in here right now. I am going to put a full banana.”
Then he proceeds to add extra supplements like collagen and fiber for added benefits courtesy of his fiancée Courtney King.
“Courtney has some collagen that she has here, some fancy collagen, this is so my skin and nails grow back beautiful and my hair returns to the lavishness that I want it and then some fiber, also one of Courtney bougie fiber brands that I don’t even know.
That’s step 1-2-3. A bunch of chopped up ice on the bottom there and then I’m going to blend this and show you guys the real trick” Bumstead added.
After blending that all together, ‘Cbum’ adds his secret ingredient to make his protein shake extra special.
“I blended the shit out of it. Hotel blenders kinda suck so it is a little watery like icy rather than milk shaky but I’ve been getting this vanilla chocolate chip purely Elizabeth granola, another one of Courtney’s bougie things and I put it in after it is blended.
I dump a bunch in here and because it is cookies and cream flavored protein and then this is chocolate chip granola, I blend that for like two seconds and it literally like you’re having an Oreo McFlurry with like chunks of cookie in it cause the granola is actually hard so it tastes like you are eating cookie in your smoothie.”
Before enjoying his delicious shake, Bumstead makes sure to emphasize that it shouldn’t be over-blended otherwise you will lose that special cookie-like texture.
“The trick with that is not blending it too long because it will turn into nothing and then you won’t have cookies you’ll just have extra shit blended up in there that you don’t get the texture for it.
As Bumstead continues to work towards the 2024 Mr. Olympia he is aware of the target on his back as fellow competitors look to take his place. One such competitor is Ramon Rocha Queiroz whom Bumstead has been training with. The duo recently destroyed a back workout at the gym together. Queiroz is currently looking to defend his Arnold Classic title in three weeks.
Chris Bumstead continues to make the most of his off-season but it hasn’t slipped his mind that as the champion he has a lot to prove. With so much pressure on his shoulders, Bumstead has made it clear that he doesn’t plan on doing this forever. He has mentioned in the past that he will probably retire in around two years but until then he is going to continue bringing his best to the competitive stage.
With Chris Bumstead reigning as champion of the Classic Physique Olympia, the upcoming 2024 Arnold Classic will serve as a pivotal moment for the division’s top threats. It is evident ‘Cbum’ continues to prioritize his nutrition in the off-season, nevertheless.
