Jay Cutler Discusses How Many Sets Per Body Part He Uses to Train: ‘It’s All The Same’

According to Cutler, 20 sets per body part has been the winning number for him throughout his career, and even in retirement. This does not include his warm-up sets or feel sets.

“How many sets per body part do I train? Now, since day one, since I started training at the age of 18, I started with 20 sets a body part. I only might do three or four movements minus my feel sets or my warm-up sets.”

Cutler regularly executes three to four sets using five different exercises. He tries to stay ‘more or less around 20 sets a body part.’

“What I try to do is a lot of variations, a lot of angles, and what I’ll do is at least three or four sets and focus on maybe five different movements.

Like I said, four sets each, three sets each. Sometimes working in more or less but around 20 sets a body part. No matter what the body part is, whether it’s biceps, legs, back, chest, shoulders, arms, it’s all the same,” shares Jay Cutler.
