With a week until the 2024 Mr. Olympia contest, Jay Cutler opened up about one of the Open division’s top names. In a recent RxMuscle YouTube video shared on October 3, 2024, Cutler labeled Nick Walker as a ‘dangerous factor’ and revealed his top concern about ‘The Mutant’s’ preparations.
Pain, perseverance, and persistence have defined Nick Walker’s bodybuilding journey up until this point. His patented freak factor and bursting fullness nearly saw him win gold at the 2022 Mr. Olympia, behind only Hadi Choopan and Derek Lunsford. All signs pointed to him possibly winning the 2023 Mr. Olympia until he sustained a disastrous hamstring and calf tear.
Instead, he watched Derek Lunsford take home the title he’s long sought after. While he could have held out for a special invite to the sport’s biggest event of the year, Walker decided to take a gamble. He competed at the 2024 New York Pro and while he was pushed by Martin Fitzwater, he ultimately got the job done, earning his passage to the blockbuster weekend once again. Fans, including Jay Cutler, couldn’t be more excited to see him back doing what he does best.
Jay Cutler Reveals His ‘Only Concern’ About ‘Dangerous’ Nick Walker Heading Into the 2024 Mr. Olympia
According to Jay Cutler, his one concern is that Walker relocating to different states could possibly work against him when it’s time to compete next weekend. Nevertheless, he described Walker as a ‘dangerous factor’ heading into the marquee event.
“Nick always shows up at the Olympia, so I know he has something to prove and sometimes that guy that’s doubted sometimes can be a very dangerous factor. The only thing that concerns me about Walker is the transition of Vegas, Florida, sponsorships, you know, getting back in the groove. That’s the only thing that concerns me about Nick.”
Given that Walker doesn’t miss on the Olympia stage, Cutler is not anticipating another close encounter with Martin Fitzwater.

“Listen, he missed the opportunity last year, unfortunately. He realistically, I mean, in a lot of people’s opinions he had a great show to battle that top three spot last year. He’s a conditioned guy. He looked tremendous at all these Olympias now did Martin beat him in New York?
I wasn’t there Dave. We’re not talking about at this Olympia, I don’t know if anyone is talking about the Nick Martin Fitzwater battle like these guys are going to fight for that third spot, second spot, first spot, whatever it is.”
Since he’s moved around often, Cutler believes that could create some ‘turmoil’ for Walker during last-minute preparations.
“I know people are counting Nick out. I’m a huge Nick Walker fan. I’ve known him since he was a kid. He’s very driven, very focused. He really doesn’t miss with what he’s in his preparations but once again, I think that there’s a little turmoil and transitioning from one place to the next and he’s kind of been, he went back to Jersey, he came to Vegas, and now he’s back in Florida.”
He believes this concern could be a ‘deciding factor’ for Walker’s potential placing at the event’s 60th anniversary.
“That’s my only concern because he hasn’t found and locked himself into position like maybe Derek has or Hadi or whatever else. That’s the only thing that could be the deciding factor to where he ends up at this contest,” shares Jay Cutler.
Walker’s powerful side poses and lights-out back double biceps will be some of his most potent weapons on stage, but he has to get through a murderer’s row of contenders. In addition to Choopan and Lunsford, Samson Dauda, Andrew Jacked, Brandon Curry, Hunter Labrada, and Fitzwater will all be waiting for him, eager to present the best physiques of their careers.
Time will tell if relocating to different states will affect Walker’s preparations as Cutler has suggested. Don’t miss the 2024 Mr. Olympia competition from October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fitness Volt will have live coverage of the event including prejudging and the finals.
