Brandon Hendrickson has withdrawn from the 2024 Men’s Physique Olympia. In a recent Instagram story, Hendrickson confirmed he won’t be in attendance for the 2024 Mr. Olympia Weekend, taking place October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Hendrickson is healthy but explained that his body needs a break from competition. He is a former three-time Men’s Physique Olympia champion, claiming titles in 2018, 2020, and 2021. He has appeared on the marquee stage since 2014, so his absence serves as a major blow to the lineup.
In 2023, Hendrickson narrowly missed out on becoming a four-time Men’s Physique Olympia after taking second place behind the reigning champion Ryan Terry. The event’s 60th anniversary has been plagued with several athletes pulling out of the competition with Hendrickson being one of the latest.

He didn’t offer a lengthy description of why he bowed out of the contest but he confirmed that he hadn’t been training for it. During a recent Instagram live, he shared with the 2024 Koloseum Pro audience in Milan, Italy, that he wouldn’t be competing.

“Seems y’all just found this out. I’ve been kicking it all year,” he shared. “Please don’t start the health rumors lol I just wanted to chill this year. I’ll be back for my tings 2025.”
Although Hendrickson won’t be competing, a star-studded lineup awaits fans in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ryan Terry will aim to become a two-time Men’s Physique Olympia but will have to once again overwhelm the stature, wide back, and posing mastery of former titleholder Erin Banks, who went on to win this blockbuster event in 2022.
Terry’s preparations have gone well, but he became the topic of controversy recently after he confessed to sharing Photoshopped images of his physique on social media. While he accepted blame for the oversight, who knows how it could affect the massive show on Saturday.
The 2024 Mr. Olympia Weekend has seen withdrawals from many top-tier athletes this season. From Bikini champion Jennifer Dorie pulling out to Nick Walker opting not to compete in the Open, it has certainly affected predictions ahead of the competition.
If he had stayed in the contest, Hendrickson had the chance to make history by tying Jeremy Buendia’s four Men’s Physique Olympia titles.
