Years into his retirement from bodybuilding, Rich Gaspari hasn’t slowed down. In a recently uploaded Instagram post on May 15, 2025, he showed off his insanely ripped midsection at 61 years old.

Rich Gaspari was a force to be reckoned with during the prime years of his career. He thrived at a young age at the top of the IFBB Pro League circuit. In 1989, he cemented himself as the inaugural Arnold Classic winner, leveraging his hard conditioning to dominate in the sport. Gaspari was a trendsetter and pioneered striated glutes in competition.

Although his days of competing are behind him, Gaspari’s DNA is rooted in bodybuilding. He still trains with a chip on his shoulder and holds low body fat year-round. In addition to maintaining his health, the bodybuilding veteran makes it a point to help beginner lifters and fitness enthusiasts. He’s shown off the systems he used to shine onstage, including his method for burning fat and gaining muscle simultaneously.

“Morning Ab check! Still got it!! #abs #gaspari #fitnesslife #fitforlife” Rich Gaspari shared via Instagram.

Rich Gaspari isn’t just maintaining his core, he also hits his lower body often inside the gym. He recently gave fans an update on his shredded quad definition, which highlighted the impressive muscle separation he’s managed to keep in his later years.

When he’s not pushing the limits in training, Gaspari routinely breaks down the latest shakeups in the stacked Men’s Open division. He took a closer look at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro results, which left fans with mixed feelings. Having watched the event on the livestream, Gaspari thought Derek Lunsford appeared ‘five percent off’ in Pittsburgh. While he admitted the contest was close, Gaspari thought Nick Walker did enough to secure the victory.

“The Dragon Slayer” has also been honest about the dangers present in bodybuilding. During a podcast appearance, he opened up about Pro bodybuilders using performance-enhancing drugs. Unlike his era, Gaspari stressed that fake steroids have flooded the market, making the sport more dangerous.

“You have to be careful what you’re putting into your body. Back then, I was getting pharmaceutical steroids from the pharmacy. They were totally legal.”

Having pushed legends of the sport like Lee Labrada and Lee Haney, there’s no denying Gaspari’s grasp of muscle building. He remains in tremendous shape since leaving the sport.
