Bodybuilder Regan Grimes is focused on fat loss in the lead-up to his next contest. In a YouTube video from July 7, 2026, he broke down his 3,275-calorie full day of eating ahead of the Texas Pro.
Grimes established himself as a top threat in the IFBB Pro League through trial and error. He boasts Classic lines but carries the size of an elite Open competitor. In 2025, Grimes competed at a total of five contests. His best showing came at the California State Pro, where he bested Sasan Heirati and Leandro Peres.
At the 2025 Mr. Olympia, Grimes fell short of expectations. He got lost in the shuffle and ended up in 14th place. Despite the setback, he bounced back at the Mexico Pro, giving the champ, Tonio Burton, a close battle en route to second place. Aiming to qualify for the Mr. Olympia, Grimes walked through his typical diet just 41 days before the Texas Pro.

Find his meals from the video below:
Meal 1
- 65 grams of oats
- 30 grams of raisins
- 5.5 ounces of chicken
- McDonald’s coffee
In the video, Grimes started his day with barbecue chicken, oats, and raisins.
“This is done up on the barbecue, and it is delicious, and, of course, can’t go the morning without a coffee.”
Meal 2 (Pre-Workout)
- Cream of Rice Coconut flavor
- 12 grams of coconut oil
- 40 grams of chocolate protein powder
Before training, he ate a fast-digesting combination of cream of rice with protein powder.
“After breakfast, I probably waited an hour and a half,” he said. “I mix it in the cream of rice. Super easy digesting, fast, and just hits the spot as far as taste. ”
Meal 3 (Post-Workout)
- 90 grams of cream of rice
- 1.5 scoops of protein powder
- 1 banana or 20 grams of honey
Grimes shared the go-to shake he enjoys after each training session.
“The workout was great, and it was a solo workout today.”
“I’ve got my post-workout shake, which is actually a meal, because we have seven meals today.”
Meal 4
- 6 ounces of rice
- 5.5 ounces of chicken

Keeping fats to a minimum, he moved on with chicken and pineapple, complete with a dash of salt.
“No oils in this one at all,” he said.
Meal 5
- 6 ounces of beef
- zucchini
His fifth meal was the simplest of the day: just protein and veggies.
“This is just a regular training day. So, I also have different diets. I have a high day diet, a regular day diet, and an off-day diet. This is a regular training day. A high day gets tossed in there; it just depends on how the body is responding,” Regan Grimes said.
Meal 6
- 5.5 ounces of chicken
- 12 grams of coconut oil
- zucchini noodles
He spaces out his final two meals before bed to stay satiated:
“I’m going to eat those two meals over the next three, four hours, and hit the bed.”

In 2025, industry experts Bob Cicherillo and Shawn Ray suggested Grimes skip the Olympia. Ultimately, he decided to compete, and while he didn’t crack the top 10, some would argue he gained valuable experience. According to Ray, unless a competitor can win or place high, he sees no value in just participating.
Grimes is making sure to prioritize fat loss before competing again. The 2026 Texas Pro takes place in Irving, Texas, from August 14-15.
