The 2022 Mr. Olympia may be several months away, but athletes are already beginning to qualify for the contest. Now we have a breakdown of the qualification system for this year, as well as the deadline for competitors to earn their invitations.
The 2021 Olympia is still fresh in the minds of athletes and fans alike, after what was one of the most exciting contests in recent memory. It featured never before seen divisions on the big stage, with new champions crowned and reigning champs defending their titles.
However the bodybuilding world never sleeps, and the machine continues to chug along as athletes have already begun to qualify for next year. Now, thanks to a post to Instagram, we have an idea of what the qualification season will look like for the coming year, including the fact that the window for competitors to qualify is from September 13, 2021 to November 20, 2022.
2022 Mr. Olympia Qualification System
Like usual, the winners of every IFBB Pro show during the qualification window will be given an invite to the 2022 Mr. Olympia. Additionally, the top five Open bodybuilders and top three of every other division, who competed at this year’s Olympia automatically qualify.

There is a point system that athletes earn when they do not win shows, and the top three point holders in each division, at the end of the qualification deadline, will earn invites. People who qualified for this year’s show but were unable to compete due to pandemic related issues already start off with 5 points.

Arnold Classic (USA), Rising Phoenix (does not include Arizona Pro)

Arnold Classic Australia, Arnold Classic Brazil, Arnold Classic UK, Pittsburgh Pro, New York Pro, Tampa Pro, Toronto Pro, Japan Pro, Europa Pro Championships
