Kali Muscle won eight amateur contests in California between 2009 and 2015 and never turned professional. He is far better known as a YouTuber and actor, and has appeared in national television commercials for a long list of brands.

Win rate here is first-place finishes as a share of all 14 recorded contest results. It is published only where a career holds at least five, because below that a single placing moves the figure by twenty points or more.

Known for

The competitive record is entirely amateur and entirely Californian: the Contra Costa Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2012, the Orange County Classic in 2009, the California Championships and the Amateur Grand Prix in 2012, the Los Angeles Championships in 2014 and the West Coast Classic in 2015.

What made the name is the media work. Born Chuck Kirkendall, he built a large online following and appeared in commercials for Taco Bell, GEICO, Snickers, Comcast, Honda and others, which reached an audience the contest circuit never would have.

Early career

Fourteen contests are recorded, all between 2009 and 2015, and eight are wins. There is no professional record.

How Kali Muscle measures up

Fat-free mass index turns the height and weight on this profile into one number for how much muscle a frame carries, so a shorter competitor is not flattered by a bodyweight comparison. The normalised figure adjusts it again to a standard height, which is the version worth ranking. Both assume the 6% body fat a competitor steps on stage at, because that is the only condition the recorded weight was taken in.

The closest Olympia champion on that measure is Phil Heath, at 33.7, the same figure.

What this rank is not. This database holds a height and a weight for just 463 athletes, and they are overwhelmingly the ones somebody bothered to measure: 73 of them hold an Olympia title. Almost every competitor on record carries no measurement at all. The pool also mixes every division and era together, from the lightweight women's classes to the open heavyweights, so it ranks size and nothing else. It says where Kali Muscle sits among the athletes we hold measurements for, not among competitors.

Where these results come from. Each contest in the table was recorded from a named source, and for Kali Muscle that source is MuscleMemory. Open any contest above and that page names its own source and links to it where the source is still reachable. That archive no longer answers at the addresses we hold, so it is credited by name here and not offered as a link.

Legacy

This is the pattern this database handles worst. A page built from placings shows eight regional amateur wins; the reason anyone types the name is a decade of television and video that the results table cannot see.

Sources

Competition placings on this page come from our own contest database and cover 2009 to 2015.

His legal name and the commercial appearances are carried from the biography previously held against his record in our corpus. We have not traced them to a primary source.

Only 2 head-to-head meetings on record so far, with Kali Muscle and Matt Burzacott level at 1 each - too few to call.

Opponents are ranked by how often they shared a stage and how big the stage was, not by reputation. A meeting is one contest where both competed in the same division and both were placed.
