Branch Warren is dealing with an unforeseen health setback after a deer hunting trip resulted in a torn Achilles tendon. On December 19, 2024, he revealed that his Achilles had been reattached during surgery and discussed the recovery process ahead.

Texas native Branch Warren was easily one of the most imposing bodybuilders to step on stage in the 2000s. He came razor close to winning the Mr. Olympia title in 2009. He had the unfortunate task of facing an extra-motivated Jay Cutler, who cemented his legacy by winning the Sandow trophy back after losing it to Dexter Jackson.

Warren was known for his extreme conditioning levels and muscle hardness. And while he’s long stepped away from the stage, he still trains with the same intensity and grit that turned him into a bodybuilding star. Oddly enough, his latest injury had nothing to do with training, instead, he suffered a torn Achilles after an untimely run-in with a gopher hole.

Branch Warren Shares ‘One Week Post-Op’ Update After Tearing Achilles Tendon on Deer Hunt

In a post shared via Instagram, Branch Warren revealed he took down the biggest buck of his life but it came at a cost.

“November 26th, Missouri: biggest buck of my life down—and then I went toe-to-toe with a gopher hole… and lost. Stepped in, heard the rip and snap, and my Achilles was done.

But hey, got the deer out with some help, drove it back to Texas, and had surgery to fix it up last week. One hell of a hunt! No rest let’s get this done 💪”

As for the recovery process, Warren revealed that he had his Achilles tendon reattached and recently got his staples removed from the incision. After spending time in a hard cast, he’ll switch over to a boot in the weeks to come.

“One-week post-op, so I’m here at the doctor’s office. Just had my Achilles reattached last Tuesday, so it’s been a week. There it is. Fun. Fun. So, get this off today, get the staples taken out. Put a hard cast on for a couple of weeks then hopefully after that, that’s off, and I’m in a boot.”

He can start putting weight on the foot soon and in a couple of weeks can begin the rehabilitation process.

“We just got the first cast taken off, got the second one put on. Got to wear this for one more week. Then I get it off thank God. Then I get a boot on and I can start putting more weight on it. Then, a couple weeks after that I can start rehab,” Branch Warren shared
