Bodybuilder Breon Ansley is being transparent with fans following his fifth-place finish at the 2024 Mr. Olympia. In a recent video shared on December 2, 2024, he revealed the entire gear protocol he implemented for the sport’s biggest event of the year.
“My gear protocol that I used for this past Olympia. Some of you might think it’s a lot, some of you might think it’s a little, I know it’s a little. I have always adopted that idea that less is more and it has worked.”
Breon Ansley is a former two-time Classic Physique Olympia (2017, 2018) and one of few men to hold victories over Chris Bumstead. In addition to boasting one of the most defined backs of the division, Ansley has proven himself for years, achieving impressive conditioning and balanced muscularity.
In his last effort on the Olympia stage, Ansley finished in fifth, defeating popular names in the category such as Michael Daboul and Arnold Classic champion Wesley Vissers. Having time to reflect on his performance, Ansley decided to share how he approached performance-enhancing drug use.

Bodybuilder Breon Ansley Reveals Gear Protocol He Used for 2024 Mr. Olympia
Find Breon Ansley’s full gear protocol below:
- Test cypionate (300mg a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
- Masteron propionate (300mg a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
- Primobolan enanthate (300mg a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
- Trenbolone blend acetate and enanthate (200mg a week – Monday, Friday)
- Novedex (20mg daily)
- Arimidex (.5mg – Monday and Friday)
- HGH (4 IUs per day Monday-Friday)
- Halotestin (Last two weeks of prep 20mg before training, peak week 40mg daily before training)
Ansley undergoes blood work four times a year to ensure his health and longevity.
“I do blood work guys every quarter, so four times a year. Make sure that everything is good, everything is in range and if something is not in range then we don’t move forward with a prep because that puts a lot more stress on the body.”
He has always operated with the ‘less is more’ philosophy, underlining that diet and training are most important when crafting an Olympia-caliber physique.
“That is the whole lineup. That is the whole mix. That is the whole cocktail if you will, not a lot guys. Not a lot because I was never a fan at all. Never wanted to do a lot, never wanted to lean on that, always wanted to lean on the diet and training, and always will.”
“Leaning on a lot of anabolics will age you for damn sure, for sure, 1,000 percent. Quite frankly, to do a lot is unnecessary,” he shared. “Even if I was in my 240s and 250s, I still would use the same principles. Less is more. Because you can still achieve the same look, the same gnarly look with just consistency and some hard ass intense training and following a great diet.”
According to Ansley, performance-enhancing drug use can be implemented safely. He argued that steroid education ‘is off’ and needs to be revamped. While he acknowledges the issue of young people turning to PEDs, he believes there are cases when they can benefit an athlete’s health.
Although many athletes avoid discussing steroid use, Ansley is open to his audience, offering fans a glimpse into the pharmaceutical demands of a top-tier bodybuilder. His transparency sets him apart and sparks important dialogue surrounding steroid use in bodybuilding. As for his future in the sport, Ansley continues to flirt with a potential move into Men’s 212 Bodybuilding on the horizon.
