Bodybuilder Breon Ansley plans to switch things up for the 2025 bodybuilding season. In a recent YouTube video shared on January 5, 2025, he confirmed he will switch from Classic Physique to Men’s 212 Bodybuilding this season.
Breon ‘The Black Swan’ Ansley is one of the most accomplished Pros to emerge from the Classic Physique division. He’s one of the few men to have bested six-time Classic Physique Olympia Chris Bumstead on stage. In 2017 and 2018, Ansley reached the pinnacle of his career, laying claim to a pair of Classic Physique Olympia titles.
His full, detailed, and wide back played a massive role in his success, which he could easily carry into the Men’s 212 bodybuilding category. He’s struggled to make weight for the Classic Physique division over the past couple of years, but it looks like that’s all about to change. Now, the biggest question is… how does he fare against the current reigning two-time 212 Olympia champion Keone Pearson?
Breon Ansley Commits to Men’s 212 Bodybuilding Division in 2025
In a recent YouTube video, Ansley confirmed that he will be making the switch to the 212 category. He believes this will serve as a much-needed opportunity for him to grow his physique to new levels while still retaining the conditioning that saw him win two Classic Physique Olympia titles.
“So, this year in 2025, I will be taking my talents to the 212 division. It is time for a new challenge and I think this is the best one for me as I am getting older guys.”
“It is time to put on more muscle and to see my true potential in developing muscle from all the hard work that I’ve done over the years,” he shared.

Ansley revealed how the weight cap was holding him back from bringing his absolute best to the competitive stage and is looking forward to seeing his true potential in the 212 category.
“When I had to come down to weight caps in the Classic division from 175 to 180 to 187. I was always losing muscle and when you lose muscle, you are not going to see your best look. It’s just not going to happen. You can see a great look but not your absolute best.”
“As far as development-wise, muscularity-wise, three-dimensional-wise, density-wise, conditioning-wise, and sharpness-wise, I am excited to see the best version of Breon in all those categories.”
Breon Ansley is ready to get to work and shared that he intends on competing at a show before the Olympia to earn his ticket fair and square.
“I can’t wait to get to work and now figure out what show I’m going to do.
I have another announcement on what show that I’m going to do this year and I do plan on doing a show before an Olympia, not just trying to get an automatic invite to the Olympia, but I do plan to do a show before the Olympia for sure and earn my way and become a champion.”
If Ansley hopes to reach the top of the totem pole in 212, he’ll have to get through a murderer’s row of contenders, including the reigning champion Keone Pearson. Pearson’s jaw-dropping aesthetics, shape, and slim waist will be incredibly difficult to overcome on stage.
If that wasn’t enough, Ansley will also have to square off against former two-time 212 Olympia winner Shaun Clarida. ‘The Giant Killer’ is known for his rugged density and dry conditioning levels, which are two qualities Ansley will have to possess if he hopes to make a play for another gold trophy on the horizon.
The future of Breon Ansley looks bright as he commits to a new division. We will keep you updated on his next show in the 212 category should he announce it online.
