Chris Bumstead recently teamed up with top Classic Physique competitors Wesley Vissers, Urs Kalecinski, and Ramon Rocha Queiroz for a chest workout under Chris Cormier’s guidance.
The reigning Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead has ruled the division since dethroning Breon Ansley at the 2019 Mr. Olympia. He secured his fifth consecutive victory at the 2023 Mr. Olympia and cemented his legacy as the most dominant champion in Classic Physique history.
After taking some time off, the Canadian bodybuilder eased his way into an off-season diet and training. In recent weeks, CBum shared his workouts and the 3800-calorie bulking diet to keep the fans updated about his progress.
The recently concluded 2024 Arnold Classic saw the crowning of Dutch bodybuilder Wesley Vissers in one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Classic Physique division. Vissers pushed aside the previous year’s winner Ramon Rocha Queiroz and top contenders like Urs Kalecinski to pull off the unexpected victory.
But irrespective of the fierce on-stage rivalry, the Classic Physique competitors enjoy a great rapport and cordial relationship with each other. A couple of days after the 2024 Arnold Cassic concluded, Bumstead, Vissers, and others participated in the Olympia Battle Classic Physique series for OlympiaTV.

Chris Bumstead joins top Classic Physique competitors for a chest workout
The four top contenders met up at a gym in Phoenix, Arizona, and pushed each other through a grueling chest workout. The group was guided by veteran bodybuilder Chris Cormier and the video of this training session was posted on OlympiaTV YouTube channel. So let’s check out how the Classic Physique competitors worked together in the weight room.
Overall, the workout consisted of the following exercises:
Pec Deck Flyes
Bumstead and the team commenced the workout with pec deck flyes. Most people perceive this as an exercise to get a pump. However, pec deck flyes rank second in terms of pectoral muscle activation after bench press, which makes them one of the most effective chest movements. The group took their turns at the machine to perform a few sets of pec deck flyes and performed a compound movement next.
Incline Dumbbell Press
Chris Cormier then guided Bumstead, Vissers, and others through the incline dumbbell press. After starting with a few warm-up sets with lighter weights, the Classic Physique competitors turned up the heat. They executed the subsequent sets with incrementally heavier weights and took to another pressing exercise.
Machine Chest Press
The Classic Physique competitors went back to working with machines and performed machine chest press next. Except for Bumstead, all three bodybuilders were depleted as a result of having competed at the 2024 Arnold Classic. However, they still managed to work with reasonably heavy weights and executed all the exercises with great technique.
Dip Press
The workout concluded with a few sets of seated dip presses on the machine. Bumstead and others pushed through the exercise to work the triceps and wrapped up the training session.
With the Classic Physique edition in the books, the Olympia Battle Bodybuilding will return on June 4, 2024. It will feature top Men’s Open bodybuilders Samson Dauda, Nick Walker, and reigning Mr. Olympia Derek Lunsford.
