The 2022 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships were held in Sun City, South Africa, from June 6-12, 2022. One man’s impressive lifts really stood out among the awesome appearances from the favorites. It was the 62-year-old David Ricks, whose performance was comparable to those of much younger guys. He finished in 14th place in the 93-kilogram weight class, but also broke three  (60-69-Year-Olds) Masters 3 IPF World Records

David’s first World Record came in the squat event, as he lifted 305 kilograms (672.4 pounds) on his second attempt. He tried to further improve it by 26.5 kilograms (58.4 pounds) on his final attempt, but was ultimately unsuccessful.

David Ricks also broke the Masters 3 Bench Press IPF World Record by lifting 202.5 kilograms (446.4 pounds).

His third and final IPF World Record was in the Total event, as his result after the squat, bench, and deadlift came out to 772.5 kilograms (1,703 pounds). It could have been heavier, but David’s deadlift attempt was red-lighted.
