The 2017 World’s Strongest Man and deadlift world record holder (500kg) Eddie Hall will take on the GRACE WOD (workout of the day) at the CrossFit European Championships in Colchester, England about a week from today in hopes of setting a world record which should definitely be interesting. GRACE is a CrossFit Girl benchmark workout that’s very short, in fact, it involves just 30 clean and jerks for time with 135 pounds for men and 95 pounds for women. But it’s definitely a brutal workout.
This should be no surprise as Eddie Hall never seems to never back down from a challenge whether he’s battling it out with one of the World’s Strongest Women Rhianon Lovelcace (of which he lost), taking on Julius Maddox who is the strongest raw bencher ever (315lb AMRAP) where he came up just short, agreeing to a boxing match with Hafthor Bjornsson, or even attempting a backflip.
But there’s one thing he’s great at and that’s being incredibly strong. However, CrossFit WODs are no easy task either and although GRACE requires strength, you also have to be very efficient and have good stamina to power through in record time.
Here’s a recent training video Eddie Hall posted and you can be the judge of whether or not you think he’ll be able to accomplish this feat…

Apparently, the fastest recorded time as far as from we know was 59 seconds done by Nick Bloch in 2016 but top times from CrossFit’s elites are usually just over the 1-minute mark. For example, 4x CrossFit Games champion apparently completed GRACE in 1:11. But for intermediate and even advanced athletes, 3+ minutes is typical. So, Hall definitely has a big challenge ahead of him.
Check out the record performance below…
According to the rules, power cleans or full cleans are acceptable. Also, athletes can re-set after the clean, or they can catch the bar in the rack position for the clean and push straight into the jerk without pausing. But, snatches are not allowed.
This is going to be interesting but we’ll definitely keep you posted. Do you think Eddie Hall will achieve the world record?
