Hunter Labrada is leaving no stone unturned to have a successful 2024 competitive season. To help him push his limits in the gym, Labrada teamed up with bodybuilders and good friends Brett Wilkin and Roy Evans.
31-year-old Hunter Labrada is one of the most popular bodybuilders in the Men’s Open division of the IFBB Pro League. He is the son of the legendary Lee Labrada, who had a great career as an IFBB Pro bodybuilder himself.
Since starting his professional bodybuilding career in 2020, Hunter Labrada has won several pro shows and carved a niche for himself among the higher echelons of the Mr. Olympia contenders. He was placed fourth at the 2021 Mr. Olympia and secured a sixth-place finish in his most recent appearance at the 2023 Mr. Olympia.
Labrada hit a low point in his career at the 2022 Mr. Olympia but bounced back with great performances in the 2023 competitive season. He plans to win at least two pro shows this year and end newly crowned Mr. Olympia Derek Lunsford’s reign in 2024. Recently, Labrada expressed the desire to compete at the 2025 Arnold Classic, which raised the prize money to a whopping $500,000.
Labrada has set huge goals for himself and has been working hard this off-season to achieve them. In a recent video posted on his YouTube channel, the Labrada Scion partnered with bodybuilders Brett Wilkin and Roy Evans for a light arms workout.

Dumbbell Preacher Curls
The workout commenced with this isolation exercise to target the biceps. Preacher curls are arguably the most effective isolation movement for the biceps due to the set-up. The tricep is firmly pressed against the pad during this exercise while the shoulder is neatly tucked against the edge of the pad.
This offers great stability and the biceps are forced to lift the weight without any other muscle group compensating for them. This leads to better results in terms of muscle hypertrophy.
The bodybuilder trio pushed through a few sets of dumbbell preacher curls and moved on to triceps exercises.
Cross Cable Triceps Extensions
The training partners next took to Hunter Labrada’s favorite exercise for developing triceps – the cross cable triceps extensions. Stability of the shoulder joint and complete elbow flexion are two of the most important criteria for triceps activation.
The cross cable triceps extension provides the perfect conditions to enforce these criteria, which results in better gains for the triceps. The trio executed a few sets of this exercise with perfect form and took to the final exercise of this training session.
Standing Cable Curls
The workout reached its conclusion after Labrada, Wilkin, and Evans carried out a few good sets of cable curls. Unlike free weights like dumbbells and barbells, cable machine keeps the muscles under tension throughout the range of motion, inducing hypertrophy more effectively. Bicep curls, when performed on the cable machine, also offer the same benefits.
The training partners wrapped up the training session with this perfect finisher to their training session and headed over to Houston Creek to enjoy the rest of their day.
Like Hunter Labrada, Brett Wilkin is also working relentlessly to take his bodybuilding career to the next level. Wilkin had to withdraw from 2023 Mr. Olympia due to a serious health issue. It will be interesting to see how the duo build themselves back in the stacked Men’s Open division this competitive season.
