The 93-kilogram weight class of the IPF has gotten stacked in the past year or so, as Chance Mitchell and Emil Krastev proved at the 2022 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships. However, Jonathan Cayco has been the ruler of this division for a very long time, and his mishap this year is just another motivating factor for him. So, Cayco is working as hard as ever to improve his skills, which just resulted in a brand new PR. He shared the feat on Instagram, which saw him squat an impressive 260 kilograms (573.25 pounds) for a total of five repetitions.

Although he is a very complete powerlifter overall, the squat is arguably Jonathan Cayco’s worst event. So, this recent improvement is a good step towards his comeback. Jonathan completed the five reps with the help of a lifting belt, knee sleeves, and wrist wraps, which means that his new PR is raw.

Jonathan Cayco only wrote “Let’s Fight 🙏🔥” in the caption of his Instagram post. So, it seems that he is excited to take on Chance Mitchell at the IPF World’s next year.

Jonathan Cayco is an extremely successful powerlifter, but if he manages to further improve his squat, he could become one of the greatest ever. Cayco has already performed some historic lifts in the bench press events, which earned him the nickname “Mr. Bench”. In addition, he also set a new U93KG IPF Bench Press World Record of 238.5-kg (525.8-lb) just two months ago.

Jonathan Cayco has taken part in 14 sanctioned powerlifting competitions and came out victorious in nine of them. His most notable victory was the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships. Cayco also won numerous raw Nationals and prestigious meets. Jonathan Cayco’s next competition is not known at this time, but he is actively preparing for it.

Jonathan Cayco is now working on himself harder than ever, as he wants to prevail in the wake of new challenges. He knows how to learn from a loss, so Chance Mitchell’s victory at the 2022 IPF World’s is probably what motivates him the most currently. Moreover, he will further cement his legacy as a brilliant powerlifter if he continues to post mind-blowing squat sets, which were not his prowess prior to now.
