Bodybuilder Kamal Elgargni pulls out of the 2023 Olympia due to family emergency. He is one of the most prominent competitors in the 212 division of the IFBB Pro League and his absence can change the competitive dynamic of the division considerably.

Libyan professional bodybuilder Kamal Elgargni has carved a niche for himself in the history of the sport with performance consistency. He has never finished outside of the top three in any of his five Olympia appearances.

Elgargni made his Olympia debut with a third place finish in 2018 and won the 212 Olympia title in 2019. After a runner-up finish in 2020 that was followed by a third-place finish at the 2021 Olympia, the veteran bodybuilder tried his hand in the Men’s Open division. His Men’s Open appearances came at the 2022 Texas Pro and the 2022 Tampa Pro, where the Libyan bodybuilder achieved fourth and second place, respectively. However, he chose to compete in the 212 division at the 2022 Olympia, achieving another podium finish.

Elgargni tested himself against some of the most elite Open Division competitors at the 2023 Arnold Classic, finishing ninth in the process. He last competed at the 2023 Master’s Olympia and emerged victoriously. Elgargni had not finalized the division he would compete in at the 2023 Olympia but he looked peeled and stage-ready in the recent physique updates.

“I really decided I’m not going to be at the Olympia this year. So I know It’s a massive year for me. I’m qualified for both 212 and the open. But family is family. So I’m really really sad for that to happen again. But again, it’s my family. I needed to be with my brother. Let’s hope, we pray for him. He’s gonna be soon because I wanted to be at the Olympia but the good thing’s next year!”

Kamal Elgargni will elaborate further on the issue and his plan of action going forward in a detailed video. But at the moment, he needs to be with the family. Fitness Volt wishes all the strength to the Elgargni family to deal with the difficult time and shares the pain.
