Mike Sommerfeld fully intends to seize Chris Bumstead’s throne in less than seven weeks. During The Menace Podcast with Dennis James on August 28, he sized up Ramon Queiroz ahead of their 2025 Mr. Olympia battle and revealed his top five picks for the ProMuscle Italy Pro show.
Sommerfeld wasn’t talked about as a major title threat last year, but that changed at the 2024 Mr. Olympia. Out of five poses, Sommerfeld won two in the finals, showing that Bumstead wasn’t as invincible as the bodybuilding community made him seem.
Using that momentum, Sommerfeld made his Arnold Classic debut in 2025. En route to gold, he defeated Logan Franklin and Matt Greggo. He’s already proved he can take out Queiroz, but Sommerfeld isn’t counting out the Brazilian star ahead of their clash.

In the video, Sommerfeld stressed that Queiroz has to lose a significant amount of size to make weight for Classic Physique. “Mike the Badass” notes that making weight won’t be a problem for him.

“I know he [Ramon Queiroz] needs to lose so much size. I’m so close to the weight cap. I can step on stage in two weeks, literally. And he needs to lose a lot of size. I don’t know how he’s looking.
He might be inside-out peeled, but I was thinking about it, and I had a hard time making a decision between Ruffin and Ramon because I have no idea how these guys show up on stage. I know how I will look, quite sure, but I don’t know what these guys are doing. It’s not predictable,” shared Mike Sommerfeld.
He also joined Dennis James to talk about Franklin’s potential at the Mr. Olympia — agreeing that he has room left to add muscle mass.
“I like Logan. If he puts on the weight that he needs because I think he has a lot of room left, but if he fills out that frame, I think he has everything too that’s Classic, to me,” said James.
“He could be right up there in the top spots in one or two years, if he brings up some serious tissue, he has beautiful shape and structure,” adds Sommerfeld.
James predicted that Franklin could find himself on the podium in October:
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Logan can slide in there this year,” said James.
“That was one of the best conditions on any bodybuilding stage ever,” Sarcev explained.

Sommerfeld has been open and honest about his biggest threats heading into Olympia. He believes Queiroz, Ruffin, and Jose Manuel Munoz are the biggest obstacles standing in the way of him becoming the next Classic Physique Olympia.
Sommerfeld will have one less bodybuilder to worry about since Urs Kalecinski moved to the Men’s Open. Time will tell how that affects the results at the 2025 Mr. Olympia, scheduled for October 9-12 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
