Bodybuilding veteran Pat Neve has died at age 78. He passed away on February 23, 2025, in Phoenix, AZ, leaving behind a legacy defined by his work ethic and love for the sport. At this time, a cause of death hasn’t been revealed.

Born in New York in 1947, Neve had a major impact on the sport of bodybuilding. His muscle shape and condition carried him to success. He won multiple shows including the prestigious Mr. America and Mr. USA competitions. During his contest days, Neve competed against icons of bodybuilding like Robby Robinson

A trailblazer of strength, he managed to become the first man in the 1970s to bench press 468 pounds. However, Neve’s accomplishments extend beyond the gym and bodybuilding stage. He founded the Pat Neve’s Fitness Center, a haven for like-minded individuals looking to improve their health and wellness. He also made an impact in the automotive industry, where he grew and sold a Nissan dealership.

Golden Era Bodybuilder Pat Neve Dies at 78, Leaves Behind Storied Legacy

As a pivotal part of the Golden Era of Bodybuilding, Pat Neve helped elevate the sport to new heights, thanks to his dedication to training and competing. A service celebrating Neve’s life was held on March 17 at the Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.

The bodybuilding community has sadly witnessed several deaths lately. Beloved coach and athlete Jodi Vance lost her life from severe dehydration while attending the annual 2025 Arnold Sports Festival, leaving fans of the sport reeling over her sudden passing. She was only 20 years old. Her death has sparked widespread discussions about the safety of modern bodybuilding, with many pointing to the dangers of diuretics.

Meanwhile, other talents, such as 38-year-old Kim Woong Seo, met his fate following a mysterious accident. While no additional details have surfaced about his demise, his family issued an emotional statement on the loss, prompting bodybuilding fans to question why athletes seem to be dying so often.

Pat Neve’s death is a reminder that life is fleeting and to cherish every moment. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Vicki, their sons Patrick and Michael, his sister Louise, two daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren, all of whom will carry his legacy.
