‘The Giant Killer’ Shaun Clarida will put his nickname to the test in under three weeks. In a recent post made to Instagram on October 30, 2024, Clarida discussed competing at the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro in the Open class and revealed the new coach he’s working with.
IFBB Pro Shaun Clarida is a decorated Men’s 212 Bodybuilding competitor, who reached the top of the sport twice in 2020 and 2022, having won a pair of Olympia titles. In 2023, he took second place behind Keone Pearson, whose shape, aesthetics, and fullness carried him to victory. Clarida rematched him at the 2024 Olympia and while he brought show-stopping condition, the judges still saw him in second place.
The upcoming EVLS Prague Pro has become one of the most talked about events this season. Shortly after retiring from the Classic Physique division, Chris Bumstead dropped the bombshell that he intended to compete as an Open competitor in Prague. Clarida, who has previously won an Open show (2021 Legion Sports Fest Pro), will have multiple threats to worry about in Europe. Aside from ‘Cbum,’ Clarida will square off against Martin Fitzwater and Horse MD (Marcello De Angelis).

“It’s been announced that I am doing the Prague Pro in I believe 18 days in the Open division. Again, this is something I’ve always enjoyed.
You guys remember, back in 2021, I did the Open Legion Pro. I won that show. Again, doing Open shows is something I enjoy and I always have the mindset that I’m going into the show with nothing to lose, nothing to prove, and everything to gain.”
Clarida said he decided to compete in Prague following his runner-up showing at the Olympia.
“That’s the same exact mindset I’m going into the Prague Pro. This was planned for about the past two weeks since the Olympia. Then all of a sudden, we see everyone jumping in. Martin, Cbum, Horse MD and I’m sure many many more.”
Having parted ways with his long-time coach Matt Jansen, Clarida revealed he’s now working with Stefan Kienzl. Kienzl has experience training several high-level IFBB Pros such as Urs Kalecinski, Wesley Vissers, and Nathan De Asha.
“I have decided to work with Stefan, the Boss of Outlaw, he and I had a phone call, had a very extensive conversation. Things went very well. I was happy with what he had to say. Right after Olympia we started working together and put together a gameplan for the Prague Pro.”
In light of his recent performance at Olympia, Clarida understands that fullness will be his top priority since he never lacks in the conditioning department.
“Obviously condition is not a factor. I just need to be a little bit fuller, rounder, and bigger, and Stefan has me going in the right direction,” he adds.
The judges in the Czech Republic will have their work cut out for them given the different physiques they will see on stage. Bumstead is taller than most 212 and Open competitors. Meanwhile, Clarida stands at 5’2″ but is no stranger to testing himself against the best in the Men’s Open.
