Urs Kalecinski‘s sudden move from Classic Physique to the Men’s Open has the bodybuilding world talking. In a recent YouTube video shared on August 24, 2025, judge Terrick El Guindy discussed Kalecinski’s switch and outlined what he needs to improve to find success.
From 2022-2024, Kalecinski earned third place at the Classic Physique Olympia. Given that only Mike Sommerfeld and Chris Bumstead placed ahead of him last year, Kalecinski’s move to the Open shocked fans. Kalecinski revealed that his body wanted to grow and that it didn’t make sense to shred down and drop muscle for Classic moving forward.
Tipping the scales at 261 pounds, Kalecinski is ready to make a statement in his Open debut. That means he won’t pursue a qualification for the 2025 Classic Physique Olympia. He plans to earn an invite to the Open Mr. Olympia with a big win at the upcoming 2025 ProMuscle Italy Pro.

“Urs Kalecinski has announced I’m going to Open Bodybuilding. He’s a superstar. Now, let’s get down to business, be pragmatic about what’s going to transpire with Urs Kalecinski in the Open. His conditioning has been consistent in the Classic Physique, which is the most competitive category in terms of conditioning.”
Aside from top-level conditioning, El Guindy shared that Kalecinski’s posing and lines make him dangerous. However, he believes Kalecinski will have to add muscle mass to stand against Open threats without looking undersized.
“He’s always diced. In addition to that, we have one of the best posers in Classic. He’s going to differentiate himself in the Open. He has beautiful lines.
All those attributes, conditioning, posing, and beautiful lines will be with him in the Open. He’s going to have to add muscle mass, and he looks like he has no problem doing so,” shared Terrick El Guindy.
One of Kalecinski’s formal rivals, Mike Sommerfeld, gave his thoughts on “The Miracle Bear” moving to the Men’s Open. He compared Kalecinski to a ‘baby’ Markus Ruhl, and expects him to fit into the Men’s Open with a tight waist and elite v-taper.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see Kalecinski try his hand in the new category. The 2025 ProMuscle Italy Pro is set for September 6-7.
