Tom Stoltman is already regarded as one of the strongest men in history, but he has his own set of events that suit him better than others. Tom is now concentrating his efforts on becoming a master of all Strongman events. Thus, he is now progressing in many areas of his physicality, with the most notable being the deadlift. With his new improvement in this event, Tom is happy to share it with his fans. So, in a recent post on Instagram, Tom is seen locking out a 500-kilogram (1,102.3-pound) 18-inch deadlift.

The 18-inch deadlift is an iconic event in Strongman, as it has made multiple appearances in some of the biggest competitions in the world. In this variation, the athletes are capable of lifting a bit more weight than they usually can due to the barbell being elevated to 18-inches. For reference, the current 18-inch deadlift World Record belongs to Rauno Heinla, as he locked out 540 kilograms (1,190.5 pounds) less than a month ago.

While Tom Stoltman’s recent 500-kilogram (1,102.3-pound) 18-inch deadlift might seem to be lighter than Rauno Heinla, it is important to note that Tom seemingly did not use a deadlift suit, while Rauno did. So, Tom could most likely deadlift even more weight if he used a deadlift suit.

Tom Stoltman’s next professional appearance will be at the 2023 Shaw Classic, which will take place on August 19-20, in Loveland, Colorado. This competition is most likely the reason why Tom decided to train the 18-inch deadlift, as it will feature a similar event, the Hummer Tire Deadlift. However, the Hummer Tire Deadlift is a very unique setup that is difficult to replicate in a gym. So, an 18-inch deadlift should be a sufficient replacement.

Tom Stoltman was also working on his leg press strength in preparation for the 2023 Shaw Classic recently, where he performed multiple reps with 800 kilograms (1,763.7 pounds). So, he is obviously determined to win the competition and claim the title of “Strongest Man On Earth”, which Brian Shaw recently announced.

Tom Stoltman already has the most prestigious Strongman title to his name, as he won two consecutive World’s Strongest Man competitions in 2021 and 2022. This year, he placed second just behind Mitchell Hooper.

Apart from the WSM titles, Tom Stoltman also won the 2021 & 2022 Britain’s Strongest Man competitions. So, after his 32 International and National Strongman appearances, Tom has claimed four victories. However, he has also stood on countless podiums during his career.

Tom Stoltman could easily improve his resume in the near future, as he now looks like a very well-rounded Strongman. Apart from improving his deadlift and overhead strength, he has also recently displayed incredible grip strength. Tom did so by lifting and holding the iconic Dinnie Stones at the Donald Dinnie Day show.

Tom Stoltman’s recent 500-kilogram (1,102.3-pound) 18-inch deadlift comes as a result of hard work, since he was also aiming to deadlift 505 kilograms (1,113.3 pounds) on a standard bar. It is not clear if this is still Tom’s goal for the future, but his potential for a Deadlift World Record is definitely there.
