Men’s 212 bodybuilder Yeifer Asprilla has sadly passed away. The news circulated across social media over the weekend on September 28, 2025; his cause of death has not been revealed.
According to the Fit Dudes Facebook account, a rough case of pneumonia led to his passing, though as of this writing, that has not been officially confirmed.
“Colombian bodybuilder Yeifer Asprilla has tragically passed away just three weeks before making his 212 lbs pro debut. The cause of death was reported as pneumonia, cutting short a promising career before it truly began. His loss is a heartbreaking moment for the bodybuilding community,” the post read.
Asprilla had an extremely bright future in the sport. Through training, supplementation, and careful dieting, he built his physique to meet the expectations of 212 bodybuilding. Earning his coveted IFBB Pro card was one of the high points of his career, and he was on the verge of making his Pro debut.

Standing out in the Men’s 212 Bodybuilding division is no easy feat. The category has witnessed the rise of some legendary stars in the sport, including former seven-time 212 Olympia Flex Lewis, along with two-time titleholders Shaun Clarida and Keone Pearson. Asprilla will never have the chance to test his resolve against these big-name talents, but he won’t be forgotten.

Unfortunately, it has become commonplace for athletes to die too soon in bodybuilding. Erik Markov of Classic Physique, who recently earned his IFBB Pro card, also tragically passed away. He made huge strides as an amateur bodybuilder, and many expected him to make waves in the Pro ranks. His cause of death was not made public.
The safety of the sport was brought into question again after the untimely passing of Brazilian bodybuilder Jose Mateus Correia Silva. He was only 28 years old, but suffered from a lethal cardiac arrest episode while training at his local gym. In early September, IFBB Pro Jessica Rivera died too, but once again, no cause of death was announced. Her impact on the bodybuilding community was great, with Flex Wheeler honoring her legacy.
Fans of Yeifer Asprilla won’t soon forget how he impacted those around him. Our team at Fitness Volt wishes his family and friends strength and peace during this difficult time.
