The 2026 CrossFit Games took place on July 22-26 in San Jose, California, marking the landmark 20th anniversary of the event. The special edition also brought some unique changes, as the individuals had to complete a total of 20 events across the span of four days. In the end, James Sprague and Aimee Cringle were crowned the Fittest Man and Woman on Earth, while CrossFit Whip claimed the win in the Teams division.

The target on James Sprague’s back only grew bigger on the final day, but the men’s leader refused to yield. Balancing calculated pacing with high-output event finishes, Sprague successfully defended his spot atop the leaderboard and won the competition for the second time in his career.

Operating under the pressure of the leader’s jersey in the women’s division, Aimee Cringle managed to protect her lead across all four days of the 2026 CrossFit Games. She ended up building over a 100-point cushion at the top, which mathematically secured her the win with one event to go. Aimee still completed the last event and celebrated her achievement on the competition floor.

Although CrossFit Mayhem held the overall lead throughout the majority of the 2026 CrossFit Games and came into the final day in the top spot, a massive shakeup occurred in the final three events. Specifically, Mayhem placed 12th on the ninth event of the competition, which left the door open for CrossFit Whip. As expected, Whip utilized the opportunity, overtaking Mayhem and becoming the Fittest Team on Earth.
